Holy shit I completely forgot how tragic and complex his story was. And man I was right there with you when I first saw it, I stuck by Leo's character until the very moment he "shot" the doctor. I was in shock. But bro, I'm afraid the ending might be even sadder than you thought. Not sure if you caught what Leo's character said at the end (which didn't really hit me until I was literally walking out of the theater) "Which would be worse: to live as a monster or die as a good man?" This could very well mean he knew his relapse was inevitable and that he would eventually hurt/kill more people, which is so hard for him to bare given that he finds his own traumatic acts of murder so revolting, so much so that he rather die than to continue as a "monster", a "man of violence". Rewatching it now, the things the German doctor said when Leo's character stabbed him with the syringe finally makes sense. I would 100% recommend a rewatch. Dude literally from the very beginning you can see the cracks, like Andrew freaking out on the boat "It's just water....it's A LOT of water" and the masterfully executed look DiCaprio gives Mark Ruffalo moments later when they're standing out on the deck of the boat, like his "partner" just popped out of nowhere. So many more masterfully woven clues and motifs throughout the entire movie. I never like to say this but I think it's a straight-up masterpiece in psych-thriller filmmaking.

Did you get the plot twist at the end? Andrew knew he killed his wife but decided to pretend to be teddy the US Marshall that's why Mark rufallo looks at him weirdly at the end he know he remembers everything but decides not to acknowledge it
