IMO one of the most understated and chilling scenes was when the psychopathic commandant (forget his name) was giving the speech before the ghetto liquidation about there being 6 centuries of rich Jewish history in Krakow, how they came with nothing and flourished in the arts, science and education. Then he says "6 centuries. Think about that. By this evening, those 6 centuries are a rumor. They never happened. Today is history." Never heard such a chilling portrayal of cultural annihilation in such few words. Never forgot that moment.

I love this reaction so much. I've only ever watched this movie once because it was so traumatic. I'm glad I made myself watch it again with you. Near the end, when Shindler started talking about how many more lives he could have saved if he hadn't kept his car and he kept repeating "One more person, just one more person," I sobbed. I cried right along with you. For all the scary and horror and ultra violent movies out there, this is probably the most terrifying movie you will ever watch. It is terrifying, not because of it's violence or it's cruelty or it's graphic depictions. It is most terrifying because it is real.
