It really hurts but is also amazing how when B was woken by the nightmares and crying to her grandma asking why her mother left her… you (Nick) were able to predict that the grandma would say she only held on as long as she did because of B. Out of every situation throughout both of these movies, that scene with B and her grandma is still the one that affects me the most all these years later. Second to that is B’s sudden realization that all the skeletons she’s been digging up were once part of families themselves. And I really love the way the actress played the head of the archaeological dig, when she realized that B had suddenly been so affected and didn’t push it further. She was the exact teacher and motherly figure that B needed in that moment. Everything about B’s story in this one just really hits home for me in too many ways, and I think the filmmakers and actresses all brought it to life so beautifully. I also think the ending is done really well. It’s not necessarily the kind of “happy” ending you want because the pants are truly lost forever. But the friends rediscovered their friendship… and whether the pants actually were or were not magical really doesn’t matter in the end. What matters is those four girls being forced to remember that even traveling through different places and stories doesn’t have to take them away from one another. Yeah, it’s a kinda storybook ending. But it’s the one that suits this story most in my opinion. And even though it should be unnecessary at this point in time, thanks for being a guy willing to get emotionally involved in “a chick flick”.
