Fargo Season 2 Episode 5 'The Gift of the Magi' Full TV Reaction!!

Comments

Hunter DeRensis

I don't know if anyone has pointed this out yet, but Zahn McClarnon, who plays Hanzee, also played Crow Daddy in Doctor Sleep.

Anthony Perez

"maybe the girl and the young Gerhardt will fall in love" as kid comes in to kill the Butcher....Ok Cassie.

Anthony Perez

The scene with Mollys mom and her dad in kitchen when the dad says "If your Mom was here she would know what to say"...that killed me. You know that he knows his daughter is probably going to die...and no parent should have to handle that.

Jeffrey Miller

Whoa, the town I live in is mentioned right at the start of the episode.

David Martin

Noreen is always going on about life being a joke, yet she's the one who insists they save Charlie in the fire.

Mike Milligan

"gift of the magi" indeed, great story to look up if you're not familiar. go Peggy, its the thought that counts. Also love Noreen probing Ed with Camus mortality right before someone tries to kill them. King Bruce as shallow Reagan was a perfect surprise.

Chris Bruneau

Noreen was reading Albert Camus--that guy is a debbie downer!!!

Anthony Perez

Yep...the two best reaction channels out there. Both are great but sometimes I need to hear swearing so I come here.

The store across the street from Bud's Butcher shop is named "Mike Zoss". Mike Zoss Productions is the production company owned by the Coen brothers. It was apparently named after a pharmacy where they grew up in Minnesota. In No Country for Old Men, Chigurgh also blows up a car in front of a place called "Mike Zoss Pharmacy". The song that plays while Peggy is on the way the way to the body shop to pick up their car is a cover version of the song "Let's Find Each Other Tonight" by Jose Feliciano. Feliciano briefly appeared as himself in Fargo. He performs a solo version of the song in the scene were Steve Buscemi is on a date with an escort girl. The song was also not written until a few years after this season takes place. I'm sure there's more Coen Bros. references, but these are the two that really stood out to me.
