The Sopranos Season 2 Episode 13 'Funhouse' Full TV Reaction!!

Some ppl i've chatted with online or friends/family that have watched the show complain about the dream sequences in the show and I just don’t understand it. I feel like David Chase did such a good job portraying dreams,; the weird, illogical dialogue, how you just transition to a random place or a person suddenly becomes someone else completely, the other random shit that serves no symbolic purpose. Some of my favorite parts of the whole show. This is one of my favorite episodes. It is one of the best endings to a season that I’ve ever seen. That closing montage showing the high class life they lead and it shows the terrible ways they make their money to afford that life. The shot of Davey leaving with just the clothes on his back because they took everything from him. At the end it pans out to the ocean where tony dumped his best friends body. It’s a montage that comes full circle. ‘The life’ comes at a huge cost, to their loved ones and friends and to society as a whole. Of course it always helps when the song selection is impeccable

You guys mentioned only 4 more seasons left. Technically, yes. Not to look too far ahead, but season 6 is 21 episodes, the first 12 episodes aired together, then they took a 10 month break before airing the final 9 episodes. And those final 9 episodes are basically a new season that they just call season 6, so essentially you have 5 seasons left to look forward to!

Season 6 is split up into 2 seasons with a year apart in between, so the good news is you guys really have 5 more seasons to go!

That closing montage is such a killer. Although we’ve come to love many of these characters, David Chase never lets the audience off the hook by every so often rubbing our noses in the violence and exploitation our “heroes” perpetrate on others, and often each other, as well as just the grimy, low rent, scumbaggery on which their world is built. I don’t think it ultimately weeded out those viewers who tuned in wanting to see a whacking of the week, but the effort had to be made, and it was always done artfully. Great job, as always, and on to Season 3, considered by many fans to be the finest in the series. I think I probably agree, but it’s a bit like choosing your favorite Michelangelo painting. Even the Sopranos weakest season (for me, Season 1) is better than just about anything else that’s ever been on TV. Can’t wait til next week.

Yes, that closing montage. That's where I fell in love with this show 20 years ago. The Sopranos knows how to end episodes, and it REALLY knows how to end seasons. No cliffhangers, no gimmicks. Just understated confidence to sigh off and let the weight of the previous 13 episodes sink in. I'm not sure if season 3 is my favourite. I think in season 3 the show hits its peak and maintains that peak until the end of the final season. How you rank the seasons comes down to taste and storyline preferences, I think. I love that I cannot rank them!

Future Boy

Wow, the end of season 2 already. It's flown by! Such great fun, even more fun than season 1. I can't wait for season 3 next week. Like all Sopranos seasons, the third one has its own vibe and tone, which you'll be aware of within minutes of the first episode. Thank God there are still 4 1/2 seasons left!

Yep.. Chase loves his Stones.. Scorsese does as well.. first time I heard Thru & Thru didn't even realize it was the Stones.. found out later it's because Richards is doing the vocals for this track.. didn't even recognize it..

Not just saying this to hype you up but if you think that the first two seasons were better than anything you've ever seen... it only gets better from here! Btw, if you are podcast listeners, I recommend the Talking Sopranos Podcast with Michael Imperioli (Chris) and Steve Schirripa (Bobby). They did it during the pandemic and it lasted a year and a half. They break down every episode, answer fan questions and interview people who worked on the show, from actors to producers, writers, directors, etc. Each episode is long, but I highly recommend it if you just want more Sopranos in your life. When you're done with the show, to avoid spoilers.

U know I never caught the creaking as farting until you said "Is someone farting?" lol I think that's Tony farting in real life and it's entering his dream.

I also like the montage. It's like, we get to know Tony, his family and other "family" and there are some guys that are likable and funny, but the reality is they're awful people doing awful things. They're not just stealing merchandise off trucks, they're scamming vulnerable people such as the immigrants who buy the stolen calling cards. There can be some serious cognitive dissonance trying to reconcile liking someone personally, and knowing they do really bad things which we all have to do from time to time in real life. Good stuff.

Jeffrey Miller

Honestly, if I were David, I'd inform on Tony in a heartbeat. What's he going to do, kill him? The guy has lost everything that ever mattered to him. Maybe he has some life insurance that he can at least leave his family.

Some of my favorite episodes are in S3. It's definitely my favorite overall. I don't want to leave spoilers but I feel you're going to love S3 even more than the previous 2.

Future Boy

It's a great podcast, but definitely not for anyone watching the show for the first time. It's filled with spoilers.

Future Boy

David doesn't strike me as the kind of man who would sacrifice himself for his family. In fact, he sacrificed his family for himself.

Donna Castellano

Agree with Future Boy. The fact he was still trying to act like he and Tony were friends says all it needs to about who David is. When he said to Tony,I lived in Arizona (I think) until I was 10, don't you remember?" and Tony just shrugged. Yeah, THAT told you all you needed to know about the "friendship" they actually had.

Agreed! I think this show does dreams so realistically, its perfect! The ending is something else! Agree with your whole comment! -Sam

Ah you know we know there were 86 episodes but didn't even realize the last season was like double! That's fun! -Sam

TBR_Schmitt

Can't believe everyone had to wait that long! I don't have the patience for it hhahaha -Sam

30 to life. The Godfather was right. Drugs will bring the mob down. That's why Paulie in Goodfellows didn't want his guys in drugs. The sentences are so big they have no choice but to flip. I'm gonna miss Sal.

TBR_Schmitt

I know I can't believe how fast we're blowing through this! I'm so excited for Season 3! -Sam

TBR_Schmitt
