No Country For Old Men (2007) First Time Watching! Full Movie Reaction!!

Comments

Anthony Perez

Y'all should watch "Hell or High Water" with Jess Bridges as a sheriff in same are of Texas. Not as good as this movie but still pretty good. And on the plus side it has the same actress who played the motel clerk...in a VERY memorable scene...just be prepared to make a choice...GREEN BEANS or CORN ?

Ellie Miller

This was a great reaction. Hand over her face Sam is the best. The movie does not want to be traditional genre chase movie with good guys finding and then killing bad guys. No matter what Sheriff Bell (Tommy Lee Jones) did or didn't do with his life, Anton Chigurh will still be out there. In the beginning he talks about comparing himself to the old timers, and in the end he is still dreaming about his father. Was the past that different from now? When he talks to his friend in the wheelchair, they talk about some violent murder that happened in 1909. In the past, in 1980 when this movie takes place, or even now, Chigurh out there. Evil is out there. You can't stop what's coming. But just as Sheriff Bell's father and Sheriff Bell himself try to fight it, the next generation will as well. Young men and women they have to change and adapt to whatever version of Anton Chigurh comes next. Things will never stay the way it used to be. This is not a country for old men.

Wow, I chalk this one up to your best reactions to day. The tension was almost palpable. I didn't even realize how outstanding this movie is despite having it in my collection for years and watching it at least once a year. Thanks for this experience 🙏🏼 I'd love to see your reaction to The Road, another Cormac McCarthy adaptation starring Viggo Mortensen, Charlize Theron and Kodi Smit-McPhee.

Definitely watch "Hell or High Water". Even though it's not by the Coen Brothers, it certainly feels like one of theirs.

Future Boy

I've just realised that you're accidentally watching a series of films about bags of money causing chaos: Fargo, Oscar, and now No Country For Old Men. Let's keep the theme going with Sam Raimi's A Simple Plan!

Jim Frykman

So sad that Stephan Root still didn't get his stapler back in this one.

Tyler Foster

I know you already know how excited I am, but I really can't wait for Blood Simple, Miller's Crossing, and The Man Who Wasn't There someday. I feel like you guys are going to flip out when you see these movies and think about the fact that nobody talks about them in comparison to the "big" Coen titles. They're all incredible. (I'm also equally excited for Raising Arizona, The Hudsucker Proxy, Burn After Reading, and A Serious Man, but No Country being one of their thrillers means those are the ones that come to mind first, watching this, moreso than the comedies -- I'm thinking about tone, not quality.)

In the book, Chigurh got the money, and returned it to the top people who made the deal (Stephen Root's bosses). And, yes, Anton killed Carla Jean.
