Anakin Starkiller

Another John Carpenter masterpiece. That has the longest fight scene in Hollywood history 🤣🤣

been forever since I watched this, Piper is awsome. Two other Carpenter films you definitely need to check out is Christine based off the Stephen King Novel and Escape from New York.

Anakin Starkiller

Rowdy Roddy Piper is an absolute legend. He was part of the World Wrestling Federation and Wrestling hall of fame winner . He's an absolute Wrestling legend. He's definitely God tier in Wrestling.

This movie is so fucking mental. Honestly, I think it's more 80s than the 80s cafe from Back to the Future II. And Anakin is right, Rowdy Roddy was a fucking legend in the WWF. His trash talk was up there with the best of 'em! That was a lot of fun, guys. edit: Sam's shock and disappointment at Holly's reveal was just priceless. "OH! [intense, drawn out gasp] HOLLY!!" rofl

Rowdy Roddy Piper was my favorite wrestler as a little kid in the 80s. I think he had just as much to do with the initial success of WrestleMania and the whole Rock and Wrestling thing as Hogan did. Piper was the best bad guy around, he out talked everybody else and his Piper's Pit interview segment was the best part of the WWF TV shows at the time. When he passed away relatively early at 61 in 2015 it was really sad. I don't watch wrestling anymore but I sometimes go back and watch that old stuff and I still get a real kick out of it.

There are a bunch of other John Carpenter films worth watching on the channel. There always fun and they give you plenty to react to and talk about: Escape From New York, Christine, Prince of Darkness, In The Mouth Of Madness, Ghosts of Mars, The Fog, Vampires, etc. are all awesome horror films. His stuff is always a crowd favorite among us horror fans.

-Screenplay by Frank Armitage: that's John Carpenter writing the film under a pseudonym -The chew bubblegum/kick ass line was Pipers' creation. Carpenter asked him for some lines he used in wrestling interviews and he wrote down a bunch. Carpenter picked this one and worked it into the script, along with a few others - Almost all of the aliens were played by the same guy - stunt coordinator, Jeff Imada. He was the stunt coordinator in a number of Carpenter's movies -Piper's credited character name, Nada, comes from the short story the film was based on. The protagonist's name was John Nada in the short story "Eight O'Clock in the Morning", written by sci-fi writer Ray Nelson I was 11 when my dad took me to see They Live. I was a huge horror movie and a "Rowdy" Roddy Piper fan (he was my favorite wrestler by a long shot as a little kid in the 80s) and I absolutely loved this film. It was a perfect confluence of two of my favorite things and it opened my eyes to a lot, including John Carpenter as a director. I had already seen Halloween but this was the movie made me a true fan. It's my favorite Carpenter effort and I've seen it at least a dozen times since then. I always enjoy it. Carpenter wrote and directed an awesome story here and Roddy Piper, in his first film, did an admirable job in playing a relatable everyman. The great performances by Keith David, Meg Foster, Buck Flower and Peter Jason really lift the film to another level. This is one with a lot of rewatch value and I'm happy you guys enjoyed it too.

A very cheesy, and very underrated movie. It's just a fun time that doesn't take itself too seriously, and Roddy Piper(RIP) is just great in it.

Fun reaction! Not sure if you have anything 4th of July-related planned, but you should definitely watch The Patriot from 2000.

Hahaha so 80s! Honestly, Holly might be the biggest betrayal we've seen yet! -Sam

TBR_Schmitt

Wow, I love that they used real "Rowdy" Roddy Piper lines in this! They made for some amazing one-liners! Thanks for the awesome fun facts on this one. This literally sounds like this movie was made for your childhood haha that's incredible! -Sam

TBR_Schmitt

Loved your YouTube reactions for a while. Finally joined your Patreon. Great timing. Such a wonderful 80's action movie. Cheesy at times, over the top fights, This is why I'm glad I grew up in this era. Such a great idea. It would still work today, but hope they don't try remaking it.

TBR_Schmitt

Thank you for your support, Robert! Agreed! We are really loving the 80s films! -Sam

I think you gonna like Big trouble in little China)

Aaron Barlow

Such a prescient film. They may not be aliens but our society is being saturated with compliance propaganda.

Alex

You never know man. We don't have sunglasses all we have are conspiracy theories.

Aaron Barlow

Many of us have metaphorical sunglasses, we have the ability to think critically and see propaganda for what it is, sort of like a bullshit detecting Spidey sense.
