consider watching the 2009 Swedish-language version of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. maybe it's just because I watched it first, but I thought it was better than the English-language version.

I agree hugely. I was shocked to hear about a U.S. remake so quickly after the original did very well at the box office. And it had a lot of crossover draw, which is unusual for a foreign language film.
