Oh I can't wait to rewatch this lol

Steve Mercier

By no means my favorite Coen Brothers movie, this one is still fun. I particularly love Brad Pitt's complete moron of a would-be criminal mastermind. And George Clooney's hobby is...fucking hilarious.

One of my favorite Coen brothers movies is "A Serious Man". Biblical parallels and overtones. Lightly surreal. Ominous.

Paul Cox

You guys have watched all the major ones already except for O Brother, Barton Fink and Inside Llewyn Davis. Again, three VERY different types of films, so the diversity continues. I'd also recommend their (as of now) final collaboration The Ballad of Buster Scruggs. It's an anthology film of six different short stories. Maybe you could hit that and Four Rooms close together, because I can't think of any anthologies you've reacted to before.

Florian Meier

Oh Yes !!! Can't Wait to watch this One!!! Please more John Malkovich !!! You watched Con Air and this one on the Channel, but his best is "In The Line of Fire" from 1993 with Clint Eastwood ... One of the Best Villian Performances of All Time by Malkovich ... And i recommend "Beeing John Malkovich " from 1999, R.E.D. from 2010, "Rounders" from 1998 and "The Man with the Iron Mask" from 1998

Wild to think this is the movie they released after winning all those Oscars for No Country for Old Men. But today we get this and the finale of Fallout? It's a good Sunday. 😆

I’ve been a Coen-head from the beginning, but I’ve never considered this to be among their upper tier of work. But none the less, I’m very glad that you’re reacting to it, and will gladly watch it again with you. Some people have designated a Clooney “Dumb Guy Trilogy” from the Coens that includes this one, ‘Hail, Caesar!’ and ‘O Brother, Where Art Thou?’. O Brother is absolutely essential. Caesar has its faults, but has grown on me over time. The cast is stellar, and they do an excellent job of portraying Hollywood during the early 50s. I hope you get around to both of them.

Terry Lee

I'm looking forward to O Brother where Art thou!

Cool you've done so many Coen films. Was wondering if you considered doing more Kurosawa, Altman or Lumet films (you've already done 2 , maybe you should make a playlist for him)? Kurosawa, at bare minimum, is considered one of the 5 greatest directors of all time(and was very prolific). It's doubtful he will win any polls(unless it's a poll specifically for his films), so I hope Seven Samurai doesn't end up being the only film of his you see. Looking at your playlists you have 1 Cronenberg, 2 Oliver Stones, 2 David Lynchs, I'm sure there is an audience for more.

I guess we know what the reaction shot thumbnail for this one will be don't we? 😊 This is a really nice dark comedy from the Coens. Everybody in this is either a jerk, or selfish, or stupid, or cheating on someone- Yeah Ted is probably the most redeemable character, but even he is longing after Linda, and willing to do her bidding. I love how the Coens string you along like it's leading somewhere - but in the end it's much ado about nothing . There are still lots of Coen Bros. movies left. I recommend (in more or less descending order) Barton Fink, A Serious Man, Inside Llewyn Davis, The Hudsucker Proxy, O Brother Where Art Thou, The Man Who Wasn't There. I even like watching their lesser movies that I acknowledge aren't their best (like Intolerable Cruelty, The Lady Killers (yeah I know, vastly inferior to the original- I still like it).

Will Zamora

Fun movie in a harsh kinda way

Will Zamora

Love the Coen Brothers, The Man Who Wasn't There is at the top from the one's they haven't seen.

Pitt told the Coens he wasn't sure he could play such an idiot, to what the Coens responded ".... You'll be fine" xD

Jason Dolan

It is underrated but INTOLERABLE CRUELTY is a lot of fun and a great George Clooney performance

Brad P

Another lesser-known Coen Brothers film that I highly recommend is The Man Who Wasn't There, a black-and-white film noir with Billy Bob Thornton, Frances McDormand and Scarlet Johansson. There's one element in the film that greatly inspired something that happened in one of the seasons of Fargo that you've already watched.

Daniel N

If you’re interested in a great, pitifully under-watched Coen Bros. movie, check out “The Man Who Wasn’t There”

For some reason, I remember not liking this one all that much when I first saw it. I’m so glad I gave it another chance as I enjoyed it so much more this time with you both. To answer your question, there are still quite a few more Coen Brothers films to watch. I highly recommend Barton Fink (1991) and O Brother, Where Art Thou? (2000). Inside Llewyn Davis (2013) was also quite good and I’ve heard good things about The Man Who Wasn’t There (2001) and A Serious Man (2009).

looking at imdb, the other Kurosawa films in the imdb top 250 after Seven Samurai are High and Low, Ikiru, Ran, Yojimbo, Rashomon. Re Cronenberg I think you had Videodrome and The Brood in the body horror poll. Lynch has done very few films compared to most great directors - Blue Velvet is the most famous one you haven't done. Altman - there were several mentioned in the 3 Women comments. Nashville, McCabe and Mrs Miller, The Player, Short Cuts. Oliver Stone's most famous films after the ones you reacted to are probably Born on the Fourth of July and The Doors.

Birdie Num Num

Wild Tales was a good anthology. And New York Stories with heavy hitters Scorsese, Coppola and Allen.

It would be nice if you check out a screwball comedy before seeing Hudsucker Proxy. It was genre that emerged in the 30s/40s that the Coens are clearly aping in that film. His Girl Friday and Bringing Up Baby(with Cary Grant and Katherine Hepburn -who you mentioned during The Aviator that you had never seen in a film before) are considered close to the gold standard for that genre.

David Wilkins

Yes, I second all those titles. And as I’ve mentioned elsewhere, ‘Hail, Caesar!’ is one that’s had less attention, but the cast is fantastic and it’s a lot of fun. Try to imagine a comedy about blacklisting in Hollywood during the early 50s. It’s a goofy hoot.

PIG

This has happened to me too, watching reactions. It really gives you a different vibe and perspective on something you've already seen. I usually tend appreciate it and/or criticize it more than I did on my first viewing, which is why reaction videos are so fun.

Slayback

this felt like a parody of CIA movies. a lot of interlinking pointless plotlines culminating in a wet fart. a lot of drama along the way but if no one knows and no one actually cares then what did it matter in the first place. clooney destroying the sex chair to dramatic music is *chef's kiss*. i think the special pillow is called a liberator. i remember ads for it in old playboys i found as a kid.

Tyler Foster

Screwball comedy homework could also prepare them for What's Up, Doc? (1972).

Odd Thomas

O' Brother Where Art Thou is the best Coen movie imo
