Hey everyone...  I have a somewhat educated estimate of how long this will take to render based on how long it has taken thusfar.  Look at the attached video clip.  The medium shot took around 14 minutes per frame to render.  The closer shot at the end... It is very brief, is cooking at around 49 minutes per frame to render.  So.. If I keep going at this current resolution and quality, I estimate the rendering for the entire sequence of 11060 frames (not including the background) will take roughly 312 days.

I can just let it go while I work on the next animation.  But that is a heck of a long wait.  There are things I can do to speed it up..

I can drop it down to the resolution of previous animations.  That will slice roughly 1/5th of the time off.

I can reduce various render quality settings that will make it look more noisy/grainy.

The two biggest contributors to what is taking so long are her hair, and the fact that this is a scene contained in an internal structure.  Light is bouncing around the walls and floor and such and it just makes it take longer.  When I do shots in open environments with a single sun shining above it renders much faster.  But the "story" of this entire thing is tied heavily to the environment she is in.  So if I remove the internal set the animation will be the same but it be kind of weird with the story.

Pick what you would like me to do here.  Let it burn and burn until it's done...  Shave off a bit more... Or go crazy and make it go as fast as possible, quality be damned.

I mean imagine a macchine taking all this time for a task its wierd and intresting at the same time

Personally, I can't settle for less than the best but resolution down is probably the way to go

Is there no way of setting up a network render in addition to your machine for us to attach to? I'm sure some of us have some war machines we don't use 24/7 that we would spare some processing power.

I'm so sorry... I meant to reply to your other message, but I accidentally deleted it. So I will reply to it here. The big studios have vast rooms filled with rendering machines. The images also take a long time to render but they send them out on a network of dozens or perhaps even hundreds of machines to all work on a portion of the image.. or each machine will work on one image. Also GPU rendering is getting more popular. If I had the money I could get one of those newfangled 4090 GPUs and spend another $700 on software to use it... but.. I don't have the funds for that. I am stuck in CPU renderland.

That would require you purchasing a copy of Lightwave 2020, as well as any commercial plugins I am using with it.

There are rendering services such as garagefarm.net... But I cannot afford them.

Im sure the wait will be worth it. To bad.. I was so hyped for it 😭

That's ridiculous, they should allow people to network render for free. Like I get why they want to charge for it but they should have a network render only version thats free for things like this 😤. It was a good idea at the least 🤷‍♂️
