So I've got her hair modeled and simmed.  Lightwave was fighting me with the sim and I spent hours trying to get it behaving then I decided to try the sim in Lightwave v11 (from 2012) and surprise, surprise, everything worked as expected.

I reported the bug.

So with all the hair in place you'd think our troubles are over, right?  Well no.  The render is freezing up when the hair is active.  I let it run last night while I slept and it spent 5 hours on a 16x16 pixel region.  The above image shows the rendering frozen on her hair.  With the hair turned off it renders normally.  A friend of mine and Lightwave beta tester said it looks like a threading problem because the 16x16 region it was rendering should have had a yellow frame.

I reported the bug.

If by some miracle they get the bug fixed in the next few days all will be groovy.  But I am not going to hold out hope for that.  I think most likely the hair will need to be rendered in Lightwave v11 (from 2012) using my old but trusty Sasquatch hair plugin.  Sasquatch is not compatible with Lightwave 2018.  This is really annoying because it means the hair will need to be lit differently than the rest of the scene I will render in Lightwave 2018.  I'll just have to match it the best I can.

So yeah..  Getting closer but Lightwave is not letting this be an easy victory.  Let's see..   I need to finalize the background and lighting.. I think that's it.  Happy New Year!

EDIT: Lightwave tech support responded to my bug reports.  The simming bug was already fixed and will be working in the next update.  The hair rendering bug was reported to a developer.
