Time to check out Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street RELEASED IN 1982.

CONTEXT

Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street is a musical with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and a book by Hugh Wheeler. It is based on the 1970 play of the same name by Christopher Bond. The character of Sweeney Todd first appeared in a Victorian penny dreadful titled The String of Pearls.

So glad you did this. I'm a big fan of live theater and this is one of my favorites. I actually had this on my list of non-movies to request from you and I'm glad you got to it regardless. I'm not sure I'll be watching the film. I've grown tired of Burton's style and the clips I've seen did not impress me.

I've seen the movie but not the stage version before, lol it's so theater-y but I felt like a lot of the bigger songs really popped more. I think the movie did better with the smaller more intimate songs but I mean that's almost just the benefit of movie vs stage I guess. Not sure if this was a random member request because its so obscure but I'd definitely be interested if you ever explore more stage shows.
