Time to check out V for Vendetta released in 2005.

CONTEXT

In a futuristic, totalitarian Britain, a freedom fighter known simply as V, uses terrorist tactics to fight the oppressive society. Evey aids him in his mission to bring down the government.

The movie's audio is all over the place, some scenes are crazy quite (low dialogue), and some very loud (action scenes)! If you have trouble hearing some scenes let me know, if it's most of the movie just let me know and i'll find a way to reedit it to make the audio louder.

It seemed like you missed most of the smaller things in this movie. I'd recommend watching it again now that you know what's happening and the history in the movie. To clarify some things, when he killed the less important people, it was because it's way easier and quicker to attack lethally than non, and they had guns, while the fingermen didn't. The higher up people were killed for obvious reasons, participating in the murder of almost 100,000 innocent people. The whole torturing thing was pretty bad, but he knew that fully well. It was only her refusal to say anything, including him living underground, that he forced himself to keep going. She told him that she wanted to live without fear, and the only real way to do so was to take away her fear of death, just like he had his taken away. It's an amazing movie once you know what's happening, and even now I'm still learning new things. This time, I learned that Evey and the detective get married, as seen in his flash forward.
