Hi All,

Wanted to update on plugin development progress. Last two weeks I have temporarily switched focus to start a new plugin (PluginAssist). Progress is going well but its not ready for release just yet. The idea of the plugin is born out of the frustration of trying to find plugins in the normal file browser - the lack of any structure to the VAR shortcuts etc.  As with UIAssist the core functionality of PluginAssist will be free but with extra features for patreons.

PluginAssist scans all VARs (and the local Custom\Scripts folder) to build a catalogue of all plugins. The UI allows for easier searching and application of the plugins to Atoms:

  • Filter plugins by Creator
  • Set specific Creators as concealed (i.e. hidden) or preferred (i.e. favourite)
  • Set individual plugins as concealed or preferred (which persists across new versions of the plugin - unlike VAM favourite and hidden)
  • Categorise and filter plugins by Type (e.g. a plugin designed for use on Person atoms or Light atoms)
  • Categorise and filter plugins by multiple different Tags (Patreon only feature)
  • Lots of other features

I very much view PluginAssist as a relatively short term diversion from UIAssist. I plan to get at least one release of UIAssist out in April and still view that as being an ongoing longer term project.

Brilliant idea

OhPraiseTheLord! Great Idea! Would it be possible to also (somehow) facilitate access to individual components of multi-function plugins like MacGruber's Logic Bricks? Maybe it's just me being stoopid (again), but I haven't (yet) found a way to cast individual logic bricks via UIAssist - which would really be a boon in terms of smoothing workflow and saving time by working around VaM's filebrowser.

I am not quite sure what you mean by 'cast individual logic bricks'. UIAssist should be able to interact with plugins using the 'Set Plugin Settings' or 'Plugin Actions' button functions.
