Finally posting this big boy, the Mackie.

I think almost every Battletech artist has taken a crack at drawing or designing a Mackie. I'd been commissioned for one many years back also.

When the first Legends book was being worked on we needed a Mackie design to present as that's pretty key in the history of mechs and pilots. Not long before that, Eldon Cowgur had come up with a fanart redesign of it for a Tex Talks video and CGL took a liking to it. He'd recently been brought in for official illustration, so with his blessing that design was given a few quick tweaks and a 3D model was worked up by Dale Eadeh to keep Legends rolling.

For last year's Proliferation Cycle pack it once again came up, but this time we could give it more polish. I started with Dale's model and gave it a full tear down. Accentuating some shapes, adding details, simplifying/moving/removing others. All while trying to keep some elements of rudimentary tech. The dilemma with making primitive mechs into minis, is as a product those minis have to be appealing as a product, not simply nostalgic. So the Mackie, like all the other primitives in this pack had to put looking good before looking janky.

With so many hands involved in it and a long journey, I think the final result came out quite nice.

For those that bought this pack. Which were your favorite to work on, and which do you deploy the most on the table?

Like this chunky boy, plan on painting some of the mechs from the box this thing comes in as a bunch of stolen mechs from a war museum that a group of pirates snatched.
