Some of you have already seen this art in CGL posts, but maybe not a clear image like this. The box cover for this year's A Game of Armored Combat box.

Way back when the first GoAC box was being put together I was going to be assigned the cover for that, but just getting the miniatures done became such a task that the assignment was shifted to Marco Mazzoni. That somewhat became the tale for all boxes since.
The composition you see here isn't too far from what my initial box idea was, with an Awesome front and center. I may be forgetting, but I believe the initial box contents didn't feature an Awesome, but a certain lawsuit road bump came along and shuffled things. The Catapult was also added in this way.

With time being crunched for these two 40th anniversary boxes, the idea popped up to make them both part of a single illustration. Luckily the already finished BB Griffin side was set up in a way to work with this. This removed me having to come up with a second environment idea. If there was enough time I may have gone with a city setting, though I'm also a fan of rolling wilderness when time saving is needed.
Should be fun to be able to pop both boxes on a shelf beside each other.

I'm glad I was able to get the Awesome and a Catapult onto a cover. I don't think they get enough love in the art for how often they're deployed on the table.

Anyone going to paint some minis up in this scheme? Plain green is the canon standard, but I pushed as hard as I could to include checkers and stripes.

YES!!! SO MUCH "YES"!!!! I did a bit of a two faced Tone down the center of the Awesome Mini that I got... the only one ... I need like 3 more but that is another topic. I am happy to see that others see the possibility of that two toned split down the center and the fear and awesome factor that can be created using it.

So the Battlemaster got the first edition of AGoAC AND the Battlemaster is included in the base set. Now the second assault mech included in the base box is now getting it's time to shine. BUT is this a famous Awesome or just a random mech? After all the first cover didn't just feature any old "Beemer". It featured Hanse Davions Battlemaster and its/his legendary rampage in defense of the NCIS. That said this looks great.

No particular pilot on this one, the main goal was showing a Star League force that could pass in any era (original and ilClan).
