Another bug joins the fray! Maybe one if the least threatening looking mechs out there, it's too cute, the Flea.

Sergey Kolesnik modeled this one. I offered him the gig because I'd seen him do a cool fanart model of it before.
Looking at it again after a while away from it, I realize the torso is a bit more stubby front to back compared to what I intended in my drawing, but that's on me for not pushing the proportions around more carefully in the modeling stage.

I hope fans of the MW4 style look can appreciate that it can now move its arms haha.
I'm also having trouble remembering what talk there was internally about variants, so this is either fully intentional or a silly mistake, but the variant is the FLE-16 as mainlined in TRO:SW rather than the FLE-17 Sarna lists as a primary variant. Gets tricky when a design goes through such big lifecycle changes in setting. Probably for the best too, moving fast is likely more important than butt lasers hah.

What do you think of it?

Sad to see the big box go but I still love this cheeky little bug. 😍

All-round improvement

Ok...i don't like this one so much. The legs seem really long and massive in comparision to a small and very lean upper body. Maybe it's the view, but the Flea looks quite a bit strange and dispropotionately. Sorry, but this dude imho is off... I would like it better with shorter and more fragile looking legs and wider torso.

Aaah yes, that loading screen with ammo belts feeding the MG bins immediately poped up in my mind. I know it's not everyone's cup of tea, but personally, resembling MW4 designs is a big plus, especially since it looks less like a box with legs (I like the old sculpt but it's kinda true). I'm glad most of the texture details were essentially extruded to really give the mech some dimension while still keeping things like the antena. The feet having "soles" is a small but important detail IMO. I'd cover the top cockpit panel all the way to the front like the original but maybe that would make it too similar to the new Locust? The 16 also adds to that but I suppose we always have converting at the end of the day. Dunno, as it stands that part looks like a tiny MWO Marauder lol. Anyway, great work overall, can't wait to see it on the table!

"Raised my hopes and dashed them quite expertly." The Flea was one of the mechs I was most looking forward to seeing a redesign of, and while this is just one person's opinion, this is the first real failure of the whole project. Never in a million years did I think the tro succession wars "Just Call It A Locust Because That's What It Is" would be used as the basis instead of the beloved walking box. This is the first mech where any I obtain will be immediately traded away for the thirty-year-old Ral Partha/IWM sculpt, I'm sorry.

Personally I like that it is the 16 rather than the 17 because I feel that is the more iconic loadout. Absolutely love the legs, and the arms being able to move. However, it does seem a bit too narrow to me, though it might just be the angle. I'll have to see what I think once I see it in person.

I will be back after i stop laughing. It’s not your work, it’s because the flea actually exists

The fact that the "main" variant is slower and has paper armor yet has two butt lasers is silly.

As like, a police or riot mech, or a companion to the Urbie, it works. But putting it on a relatively open battlefield and it is a deathtrap. The Urbie at least has a decent cannon on it

It's OK but the thing that has always bugged me about the flea is that it doesn't jump

I like the look of the flea. sadly the design would benefit from 5 more tons.

Any chance on some mech pictures this week? I would love to see a Whitworth or Hermès II this week!

So I saw that a new lance pack is coming out with a Highlander theme, can you give us a hint to the mechs being in this lance pack? I am hoping for the Ostsol or Ostroc or even better to have both! :-D

I wish I knew why I was so stupidly excited about this model?
