Hitting 400 patrons earlier this month was amazing, but how can that compare to a nice round 420? Hahaha. Thanks everyone!
Welcome aboard all newcomers and those who've returned for more.

I asked you all recently if I should go ahead and splurge on an art tablet upgrade, and I did.
It was a bit of a process. I rolled the dice and bought a used model direct from Wacom, and when it arrived it looked practically new aside from a tiny ding on the back. However, when I finally dove into Photoshop I realized the entire right 1/4 of the screen wasn't reading the stylus properly. They must have missed that in their checks.
Luckily they honored a full RMA replacement instead of the plain return policy on used models, and what showed up in the mail today appears indistinguishable from brand new. They may have run out of used/refurb models over the holiday season :)

It's an absolute monster, but I'll get used to it. As you can see it consumes much of my desk, and I had to buy an additional $600 worth of monitor arms and cables, but this stuff will last a looong time.
When brought forward into drawing position it doesn't leave much room for full keyboard and mouse use, but I've always been one to use the buttons on a wacom tablet so hopefully I'll get the 17 button remote replacing a few workflows that I typically used the keyboard for.

For those curious, I have an Autonomous brand standing desk, which I also consider a crucial item for working from home. Being able to get it all the way low into a true ergonomic position, or stand, or anywhere in between is great for avoiding (some) bad posture through the day. I also have one of their chairs, but at this point I think it really is worth it buying something like a Herman Miller or Steelcase and should have eaten the eye watering $1000+ price tag the first time around.

Anyway, I wanted to say that less of this crazy workstation setup would have been possible without the great support I've had on patreon for the last two years, so thank you everyone for contributing. From the humble $1's to the whale $50's, you all matter a lot to me.
I hope everyone has a great new year, I know I'm looking forward to 2022.

More designs, art, and renders coming soon!

I'm digging the (sneak peak?) Uziel sculpt!

Anonymous

That's one sexy, sexy Uziel 😶

Anonymous

Wait, is that Uziel an upcoming sculpt or an existing one? :D

ShimmeringSword

Nah that's the current IWM Uziel, which we built from the MW4 cinematic model. Can't get much better than that haha. That one was gifted to me by Brushido. Timby and Shadow Cat from Dave Fanjoy. Orion and Warhammer IIC from N151. Those plus a few more are my Camospecs hoard.

I used to sell Steelcase chairs at a previous job; if you're looking to upgrade and don't want to drop the money for the top of the line Gesture, the Amia is a worthwhile option too. I bought one for home use in 2014 and have been using it since without much complaint.

ShimmeringSword

My roommate has a gesture and it feels amazing. Not to mention possibly the best looking chair there is. My current chair is a big upgrade over any cheap one, but it's interesting to see how much more comfort you can squeeze out of a chair at the top end. If I was to upgrade I'd go all in as I've kinda replaced all my "budget" with "midrange" at this point and starting to creep into "top shelf".

Love your setup! Congrats on the new kit! Happy New year to you and everyone on here!

Anonymous

Awww, you even have the Orion and the Warhammer IIC I did for you on your desk 🥰

Anonymous

Your right, that mouse pad needed to be bigger.

I see a few paint schemes I'm going to need to steal.

Its great to see your patreon is doing so well form its humble beginnings. I remember when you had only a handful of us and you were talking about your other jobs you had to get to make ends meet. Now you are working for Catalyst Games in their main Battletech line. You done good young man.

that is one dumptruck of a tablet!

ShimmeringSword

Haha. It works great for keyboard and mouse, but it's also at the point where it could go full desk mat.

ShimmeringSword

A main strong color, a color change or fade on the legs, and a bright accent. Hard to go wrong.

ShimmeringSword

Yeah it's been a nice climb that last few years. Definitely have to credit the BT community a lot for shelling out so much cash haha.

Why doesn't the cat's house look like DropShip?

Anonymous

I envy you) Here, in Russia, this model of Wakom costs $ 4000(((((

ShimmeringSword

Yes it's a very expensive item. Even I wouldn't pay the $3300 for it here at full price. Used was a much better deal. You also have to buy a $380 arm for it to be ergonomically usable. The costs really add up.

I ended up selling my tablet (smaller model) and going back to a humble Intuos Pro but the largest model and I have to say I love it. I’m not sure how the newer cintiqs are but I noticed after an hour of use I’d have to recalibrate the stylus again on my old one.

ShimmeringSword

Yeah pro's and cons. IMO unless you really need portability and can't stand using an intuos, the small cintiqs aren't worth it. Too small of a canvas space to view and now you're blocking a ton of it with you hand. Calibration is indeed annoying and can never be perfect, it'll be off any time you change posture.
