Though very slow. ;3; All of the included images show various elements of the project in a WIP state. Pls excuse the scarcity of these WIP posts; things are slow, the world is merciless, and I just don't have the energy to do much extra.

I am doing my best, I promise.

Anyway, the first image is a shanfei eye closeup (shanfeye in short). Design inspired by a blend of cephalopod and goat eyes, both very good things. I have also been working on the fur relentlessly over the last couple of days, and I think I'm finally getting it to look the way I want. More or less. Also check out them preorbital glands (they are longer than they appear here)!

Next three pics (grey buildings) showcase my new  a n c i e n t  c o n c r e t e  shader (you haven't seen the old one; it wasn't bad, but not quite there), as well as some (partial) structures. The shader basically consists of 4 different concrete materials with 4K textures, blended together with a bunch of procedural maps. One nice thing about it is that it only requires an object to have a box UV map (or any other type that's applicable, as long as it's in real world scale), simple vertex paint for the weathering, and optional material IDs if I want to add toning/paint. It's also a little faster to render than the previous attempt, though it uses much more RAM because of all the huge texture sets.

Now, the orange landscapes are... well, landscapes. The first two (actually the same landscape, just different areas) are generated and rendered properly, though the material will change a bit; the third one is a WIP preview of a different landscape.

In the following three pics, there's some sort of machine suddenly??? It's a vehicle serving a very specific purpose. It'll be one of the first things you'll see when the project launches. Fun fact: the overall design is a blend of brutalism and dieselpunk, and the main form was literally inspired by an old soviet bus stop (those things can be really creative and beautiful - look it up).

The last two? One is a mystery which I wasn't sure I wanted to share, so I'll at least say nothing about it, and the other is a bunch of very important modules for a very important user interface for a very important thing. I had to look at so many pictures of UNIVACs to make it! 10/10

Needless to say I'm getting out of    A   L O T    of comfort zones for this project, and learning so much from it. It often kicks my ass, but it's absolutely worth it. <3

I'm attaching all the images zipped, in case Patreon is still hungry for the pixels of unsuspecting JPGs.

Enjoy! :D

Love it Tchai! Goat eyes are great aren't they? 🐐 Nice seeing the landscapes been wanting to check those out since you said you wanted to try the new program. The industrial stuff looks so cool. Love the little sneak peeks of the project!
