You skipped a Episode man. There is a episode between 3x3 and 4x1. The Abominable Bride. Im surprised you missed that. It explains most of the question from 3x3.

Though time wise it does kinda connect to where we left off in 3x3. But only kind of... lol you'll see what I mean when/ if you watch it :D

For me this is the weakest episode we've had since s1 ep2 (though that standalone episode you're gonna watch next is also not rerally one of my favorites.) But with some of the things you criticised I don't agree with. you said that this transition (with John and that lady) was weird and felt out of place and kinda random. I feel like it fit prett well actually. Maybe you have just missed what happened before the transition. John and Mary were having a little bit of a tiff because of all the lies Mary still tells and all the secrets she still keeps from John. And there is that scene right before that transition, in which Mary and John are on the plane. And you hear John's inner monologue and it goes: "So many lies. And I don't just mean you (Mary)..." And that is the moment we get those flashback scenes with John and the lady. We already saw the first parts of those scenes earlier in the episode. And those first parts seemed pretty "harmless" and "innocent". But now we get to see the rest of the scenes and all the lies and secrets John has been keeping from Mary. So yeah, I thought that transition was pretty brilliant. And the second thing I don't agree with is you saying that John has no right to be angry with Sherlock. I think he has every right to be absolutely furious with Sherlock. But not about the fact that Sherlock included Mary in all this, no. But rather that Sherlock bloody Holmes can't keep his mouth shut. He just can't stop antagonising people. And he does that purely to show off. In that confrontation scene at the aquarium, that old lady (don't remember her name) seemed to have accepted her fate (she even said "I knew this (her getting eventually busted) would happen someday. She was pretty calm about that whole thing. But then Sherlock starts insulting her and that is when her whole demeanor changes. And Mary realises that too. During that whole confrontation Mary has pretty much stayed silent and just listened but when Sherlock starts his tirade of insults she immediately goes "Sherlock!" and then a bit later again "Sherlock, don't!" (with a lot of concern in her voice because she can sense the shift in that lady. She knows that this could get very dangerous if he keeps talking like that...but of course Sherlock is too self-absorbed to notice any of it he just keeps prattling on). And that is when that lady decided to not go peacefully, because she wants to hurt Sherlock. So she tries to shoot him. And Mary saves him by jumping infront of him. So yeah, I totally get why John is blaming Sherlock. Because Sherlock is to blame here. And I know I probably sound like I hate the character of Sherlock but I actually quite like him. And I really enjoy him showing off and insulting people. It's what makes this character so interesting and fun to watch. It's kinda the same as with Klaus Mikaelson- I absolutely adore the guy (as you know lol) but he too has a tendency to rile people up, to make new enemies no matter where he goes, just for the fun of it. And more times than not I am like "I love you dude, but honestly, that whole mess you're in right now is a mess of your own making. If you were just a little bit nicer to people you wouldn't have nearly as many problems" Can't wait to see what you think of the rets of the season. I dislike the stand alone episode, I'm not the biggest fan of s4ep1 (the one you just watched) but I do really, really like 4x2 and I still can't decide if I like the finale of SHerlock or not :D So yeah, I am curious to see where you fall. I mean, I very strongly disliked s5 of TVD and you seemed to have enjoyed it (overall). Which kind of makes this even more exciting because I can never really predict you and what you will like or not :D

Maybe on rewatch I will appreciate the Watson flashbacks more I was just so into what was currently happening going back just did not work for me.

I see your point and with that I do indeed blame Sherlock. He had a part in her death and is to blame.

MsDanibanani90

I can totally see how that flashback can feel like a very extreme change of pace! So even if you don't appreciate it after a rewatch that's totally okay :D That's the beauty of media (be it TV shows, movies, books or music), everyone experiences it differently and what may work for some might not work for others :) That's why I love seeing your reactions sooo much or showing my sister or best friends all the shows/movies/music that I really enjoyed and talkig to them about it. Even if they don't end up liking it (which has indeed happened before :D ).

MsDanibanani90

Though I think I would have to disown them if they said that they hated Elijah Mikaelson. :D :D

I think your under selling the episode. It is significant. imo anyway.
