I've tried watching "The Expanse" a couple of times but it just seems so cold and dense. Should I give it another try? I'd love to watch along with a reviewer and get your feedback too.

I am enjoying it. Definitely a dense show but some great character moments and suprisingly funny moments. I feel like I am just over half way through season one and it is just starting to get into it.

A lot of people compare it to B5 - I am a B5 fanatic, watched it in the original run and have seen it probably ten times through since then. Would you say that's a fair comparison?

I am not sure yet. It has some similar aspects but I find it far more grounded than B5 but then again I am not that far along.

There's a healthy overlap in B5/Expanse fandom. The creators of both shows are mutual admirers. The Expanse is the only thing that's come close to dethroning B5 as my greatest-of-all-time, but in the end B5 kept the crown.

I'll be giving that a miss. I did a full re-watch last year, after having not seen it since it first aired. Boy, was it bad, especially the last few seasons.
