That's what I said! Why the hell is everyone just an asshole?!?

Really? I watched with my best friend (both OG tng fans) and we both thought this was pretty damn good. A step up from last week.

Luke Nevill-Bond

It's not Klingon Opera but it is the same song used in First Contact near the beginning of the film when Picard is in his ready room so just another nostalgia moment I guess and I have to agree with the "Why the hell is everyone being an asshole?" statement. What is going on? It seems like the entirety of Picard the majority of Starfleet has just become a shadow of the what we know and love from the original Trek. It really annoys me.😕

Shaw was competent. The only reason he left the bridge was because he had a MASSIVE head wound. He even sounded like he was having trouble breathing. He knew he couldn't captain until treated. Even when he was just saved from dying - his concern was his ship and crew "how are they finding us?". THAT is what a Starfleet Captain would do...

This is my 3rd 5/10 in a row :/ Normally I would stop but I was also told to wait till ep 4. There's a good show under all of the terribly written, contemporary sounding dialogue and all of the baggage dragging behind this season. They drag like chains of it's own making - like the contradiction with Riker's son that you pointed out PERFECTLY.

My recollection from the season 1 Riker's son issue was not only was the research on positronics banned, but all existing positronic brains (needed for the treatment) were eliminated and it would take time (years?) to build another one, but there was not time. Not sure on this, but just my (faulty?) recollection...

Yes, it's really a strange beginning. It seems like they've all gotten a little... dumb, in Starfleet. They're very aggressive (in character, not in action) and frankly, this constant bashing of Picard almost becomes a running joke throughout the series. The way that the series has been shot from is starting to get a little heavy... I, too, am waiting to see a bit the next episodes, but I'm worried about this mess they're setting up, even though I have my own idea of where it might go. And the scene of ejecting the enemy ship, while standing around and raving about their action, was also a bit ridiculous. Anyway, I'll see what happens next. PS: No download link?
