I have to admit, I was just as cautious as you were starting season 3 of Picard, but so long as I think of this season as a separate show from the first two seasons... I have to say it's gotten me pretty invested already. The new show runner has clearly put in the effort to try and overcome the situation he was put in at the start of this season. I'm curious though, what about the Ferengi design did you think seemed off? I thought it was actually pretty faithful, the ear seem very slightly different and his head shape is a little more rounded, but it kind of felt like the same kind of variance you would see in most people. Shaw is also super enjoyable as a captain too, I really like that he feels like a unique character, but isn't just one note, he clearly has some depth to him and his point of view is entirely logical. As you said, at the end of the day he stood up to the new baddy, so hard to fault him there. Besides, it's nice to have a little tension between characters, as long as they aren't just outright and unreasonably hostile to each other for no reason except to force drama. I think after two consistent episodes I'm finally letting myself let my shields down, so to speak.

My grip with the Ferengi is minimal. The ear are a little to small and the head shape was just a bit off.

This seems pretty good so far. I still find it jarring hearing the mild profanity and heighten violence, with the more recent Trek properties, but I'm not mad at it. When Tarantino's project was still on the table, I confess I was very curious what that would have looked like.

Same camera and setup as I have had for months now. I did finally tweak the camera setting. Makes a big difference.

I do not like Jack Crusher's acting. He plays for the audience instead of staying within his role. The scenes, he is in, do not feel real. And how is he an intergalactic criminal? Did he leave the Milky Way?
