I'm older than you are, I've seen so many shows in my life, I'm a writer and my job is in the industry. So armed with some knowledge I can safely say that this show is in my list of top 5 best show ever, because of the quality of writing. In the plot, the cliff-hangers, the unpredictibility, the dialogue is never cheesy, always very clever and real an aways challage the acting skills of the actors; for the structure that is circular, you have to wait until the last episode of the last season to understand the entire story, where all the facts, all the actions the charcters have made, make sense, all that has happened is explained. At that point you can rewatch the show as many times you want, you will always discover something new, some connection you haven’t notice before, and i cannot think of another show were the writers had that much money, time and care put in this show. Also because of the characters are fantastically written, I mean, Damon is Damon you don’t get more iconic than this, he is the archetype for so many characters in so many other shows, the lovable jerk/ dangerous/ bad guys, dangerous but fragile, irresistibly sexy, quick liner, snappy dresser, snarky but charming. How many version of “Damon” we have seen in others show? Tons, almost every lead man in other subsequent shows that has the duality between charming good/bad boy is a version of Damon. I understand your love for Damon, I totally share the love, he is one of the best written character in television history, Ian Somerhalder thinks so too.

Now into the episode. I have, so far, one thing to say. Damon when it comes to trusting people appears impulsive, but he is not. The question he asked to Mason is very central. How Mason knows about Damon? He hasn’t being in town for years; his family doesn’t have a clue, and why he didn’t answer? Damon is smart, he knows there is something very fishy about him. He is looking quite insistently for this moon stone, the one that Katherine gave to George Lockwood back in the days, what’s the deal there? We are getting ready.....I can’t tell you for what.....keep watching....

Have you ever seen Black sails? I feel like you'd love that show based on your praise for the circular structure to this show. Black Sails is possibly the best written show I've ever seen. no throwaway dialogue. EVERYTHING is pertinent at some point.

Oh my!! Thank you for the tip, I've spend a luducrous amount of time watching shows because shop talks requires it, and sometimes I miss something. No, I haven't seen Black Sails, and if what you say is true it is the kind of show I would like. Even though thata are so many factors at play, for me to really like a show. For example, someone suggested me to watch The Witcher, I've watched 3 episode and I hated it, or I've never find GOT good enough, written mostly to shock, rather then to amaze, especially the ending., or Lost the writing is terrible, so random in direction, and too many loose end let unexplained, or with a unrelatable explenation etc. Lets' see, I'll let you know. Thank you very much, anyway.😉😊

Have you seen Westworld? I think the first season is a beautifully written self contained circular story. They especially play with that structure, which makes you notice new things however many times you watch it

Blacksails is on my list. One day. I loved season 1 of Westworld. Season 2 only 1 episode. I have yet to watch season 3.

I've seen Westworld, I agree that first season was brilliant, so much potential, after...mmmm....

The episode "Kiksuya" in season 2 is the only one I liked and it was mainly a standalone type story. I revisit it from time to time. so good.

Agree he is smart and just being careful. For just one bite him and his brother can be killed. He is just testing also what is the weakness of a werewolf.

Absolutely I agree...this show and The Originals are the best shows ever! So well written, such amazing chemistry, superb acting and realistic special effects, even the cinematography, camera angles, and the selection of music is perfection. You can tell they really knew what they were doing, even on the historical aspect of things including the costume design of the period pieces. They also seemed to incorporate a more proper way of speaking when they would show flashbacks. It was was spot on. It was all done so well. Amazing job in ALL areas. It doesn't get any better than The vampire Diaries and The Originals in my opinion. They really went all out. Idk why they did not receive any prestigious awards like an Emmy or any high acclaim for these shows. They certainly deserved it. :/
