Wyatt Earp- Thank you very much for another fantastic reaction to a great movie I've chosen for you, Clint! I agree with everything you said when comparing Wyatt Earp from 1994 to Tombstone, which came out a year earlier than this one, in 1993. I love both movies, but I do agree that Tombstone is definitely stronger, especially when it comes to the acting. While I enjoy Kevin Costner as Wyatt Earp, and love Kevin Costner as an actor in a great number of his movies, I definitely love Kurt Russell as Wyatt Earp in Tombstone much more. But I enjoy Kevin Costner here in Wyatt Earp as well. And I appreciate that we do get to see some more of his early years before the events of Tombstone. I agree with you that there's too much of the backstory, but it's good to understand this real life western hero that much more. And now as for Doc Holliday... Val Kilmer as Doc Holliday in Tombstone, is one of my all time favorite character portrayals within any movie that I have ever seen. Val Kilmer is absolutely phenomenal!!! And I don't think anyone would disagree with this. So, it's very difficult to compare his portrayal of Doc, here to Dennis Quaid's portrayal. And it's really not fair to either. Val Kilmer's portrayal is out of this world, and he's on another level. With this being said... I love Dennis Quaid as an actor.as well. And I think he does a great job playing Doc Holliday here in Wyatt Earp. I just don't think he's really given nearly as much time to shine as Doc, like Val Kilmer was as Doc. Wyatt Earp is this movie's main focus, and while Wyatt Earp does a great job establishing the relationship between Wyatt and his brothers, and their family, Wyatt Earp is this movie's major focus, and therefore the rest of the characters here are hindered a bit because of this. Including Doc Holliday. At least in my opinion. But I do enjoy Dennis Quaid throughout this movie. Both Linden Ashby as Morgan Earp and Michael Madsen as Virgil Earp are also great. I think I love Linden Ashby here in this movie as Morgan, more than I like Bill Paxton in this role in Tombstone. However, both actors in each movie, are great! Whereas, I actually prefer Sam Elliot's portrayal to Virgil Earp in Tombstone, more than I like Michael Madsen as Virgil here in Wyatt Earp. But I do still really enjoy Michael Madsen as Virgil as well. And as for Jim Caviezel playing their younger brother, Warren Earp... This is one of Jim Caviezel's earliest roles in any show or movie. It was his biggest role in anything so far. Jim Caviezel had yet to be established as much of an actor at this point. So, his role in Wyatt Earp was pretty small and mostly invisible. Which is too bad, but understandable. Also... Warren Earp wasn't actually with Wyatt, Doc, and the others, when they were fighting to take out the Cowboys one by one. He was just meant to be there to help escort Virgil, the women, and his brother's body back home. But with this being said... It's great to see Jim Caviezel pop up in this movie. I was shocked to see him back when I first saw this movie. And so happy! :) There are quite a number of well established actors nowadays, who made appearances here in Wyatt Earp. Many of whom I really enjoy. Catherine O'Hara as Virgil's wife... known for her role in the Home Alone movies and lots more. Bill Pullman and Tom Sizemore as Ed and Bat Masterson, Adam Baldwin, whom you recognized from his role as Casey in Chuck, and more. I like seeing a number of these actors in their appearances within this movie, even if they are quite small. The cinematography, camera work, and directing of Wyatt Earp is definitely stronger than it all is in Tombstone. I wish they could mix these two movies together with the right casting and the right film work. However, for what both movies are as individuals... Both Tombstone and Wyatt Earp are really good just as they are. Tombstone is one of my all time favorite movies, so it's hard for me to not compare this movie to it too. But I do love Wyatt Earp for the movie it is. Thank you once again for watching Wyatt Earp, as well as Tombstone for me, Clint! I really have enjoyed your reactions for both of these movies. And while you definitely love Tombstone more too, I am happy you still enjoyed Wyatt Earp as well. So, thank you, my dear friend! :) Sincerely, Heidi
