I am officially opening a new ukulele course!

It is called Just Play Along - Ukulele Style. In this course, you will learn how to play chords, scales, and melodies over awesome backing tracks.

A backing track is a recorded musical accompaniment used to play solos or melodies.

It is like having a virtual band ready to play whenever you need.

So, you will not only learn how to play beautiful chords, scales, and melodies, but you'll also play over beautifully arranged backing tracks.

Let me tell you more about this new journey.

IT STARTS WITH ME ...

First of all, I love teaching you how to play the ukulele.

It is something that I didn't know I would become so passionate about.

I have over 1500 lessons on my guitar channel, and I have played guitar since I was 11 years old.

You might think that someone with so much experience teaching guitar would effortlessly teach ukulele too.

Well, I don't see it this way.

The ukulele is a new thing for me, and even though my fingers can move beautifully well, creating music on a new instrument can be taught.

THE GOOD THING ABOUT CHALLENGES

Teaching how to play the ukulele is still quite challenging; however, it brought something new and fresh into my teaching.

I feel more connected with my audience (You, guys), and I am constantly putting myself in your shoes to experience my courses from your point of view.

So, when I first put together Just Play Along - Ukulele Style, the idea was to teach you how to play a melody over a backing track.

It sounded cool, but it felt like something was missing.

Yes! I can teach you how to play a melody over a backing track. Which is awesome! 

However, there are so many musical elements involved in a simple melody. What more when you use a backing track.

So I put myself in your shoes, and I thought:

"Well, If we are using a backing track, maybe I want to know more about it. Which key and chords make up the backing track and how to play them?"

So, I added a video showing you the chord progression and how to play it over the backing track.

Then I also thought:

"Well, if there is a melody, maybe I want to know more about it. Which scales and notes Marco used to create the melody?

So, I also added a video showing you how to play the scale I used to write the melody.

ABOUT THE MELODIES.

We will learn each melody twice.

The first time the melody is simple! I call this the Beginner Level. This level is rhythmically and melodically simple. We will mainly play the scale up and down over the backing track. It's is a great place to start, especially if you are not familiar with playing melodies.

We also have The Pro Level. This level is rhythmically and melodically more complex. It is indeed more challenging, but it sounds more like music.

So, to recap:

1. We will start by understanding the backing track.
2. We will learn the scale that makes up the melody.
3. We will learn a simple melody (Beginner level).
4. We will add melodic and rhythmic patterns to the melody (Pro Level).

It feels like each module of Just Play Along is a unique world made of different musical elements.

HOW MANY MODULES?

Module 1 is almost ready. I have all the videos up to the Beginner Level. I will release the Pro Level this week.

There will be five modules. Each module explores a different music style.

Module one is a simple Pop melody called "Little  Smile" inspired by my little son Alex.

Module two is Spanish music, etc ...

I am planning on releasing one or two new modules a month.
