Hello, gang. Been a while since I did a full blog, so I thought I'd update you on why.

Basically, I was late meeting a deadline - a script that I was due to deliver pre-Christmas - and I asked for an extension, after I got thrown off my stride by my dad's health news. And then, of course, coming back to work after Christmas meant that it took me a while to get a full head of steam again. I never miss deadlines!!! Except, it turns out that now I do. A mixture of this weird 12 months, and having less paid work to do in general has led me to relax a bit on that front. Surprise! The world doesn't end if I'm not bang on time!

So, anyway... because of all that day job stuff, I'm a bit behind with things, in terms of getting Digi videos stacked up, and the podcast, and whatnot.

Weirdly, not being able to film with Gannon is part of the problem. Not living with him means that when he comes over, we're sort of forced to record a whole bunch of vids in one go, and consequently, we get a bunch in the bag. But aaaaanyway.

We are nonetheless planning the next month or so of vids. We're going to do a Babyfood Corner in the coming weeks. We're going to do some stuff with Tickle Me Elmo, for pity's sake, Beanus will be UN-cancelled, I'm going to do an un-boxing of that new and pointless Atari VCS console (yes: actual video game content)... and we'll no doubt do some more out-and-about filming, as we really enjoy it. And then, hopefully, somewhere in there, we'll find a way to get Gannon involved, via video calls or something.

Oddly, we've had our first 'Hope you're going to bring back Octav1us and Larry' comment for a while, despite neither of them having appeared for at least 18 months, and the channel quite obviously having evolved since then. Sigh!

Can't grumble. Though our stats have remained stubbornly static in terms of subscribers, our views seem to be up, and I'm getting a general sense that we - and I mean Sanja and I - have found our own audience at last. It has taken so long to break away from the shadow of Digitiser The Show, and then Cheapshow, and there's still a way to go, but I feel that broadly people now get that it's my channel, even if it is called Digitiser. Covid has been a blessing in that sense.

I've consciously made a choice not to plan too much this year. While there are things I'd really like to do, with so much uncertainty it feels best not to set anything in stone. So much of what I produced last year was unexpected, and unplanned, and I like that.

I'm continuing to work on music, though, and would like to release an album at some point this year, one that's sans samples, and hopefully with some real musicians involved. There's a piece I'm working on at the moment, which might be my favourite thing I've done. Inevitably, it's a long song. I know those big suites of music aren't for everyone, but I've realised I just like music that takes the listener on a journey, through lots of different moods and styles. It's not like I'm trying to have a hit; just doing what I'm enjoying doing!

I'll put up a work-in-progress for you after I've finished this post.

Think that's it for now. Hope everyone is safe and well.

Paul

Hi Paul thanks for being an insane point of sanity and humour in this increasingly strained, weird and stressful year. Can’t wait to see what coming this year.

Good luck to you! I'm loving the Mr Biffo Show (with Sanja!) :)
