Hello! It's been a while since I addressed you all directly on here. Sorry about that; feedback seemed to suggest that you were all happy to be supporting Digi2000, wanted that to be my focus, and didn't much worry about perks. Nevertheless, I'm going to try to be a bit better this year at offering you stuff. The new version of the Man's Daddy joke book is on its way soon - with new jokes!

But in the meantime, I thought I could use Patreon to share some updates, and news of my other work with you, and keep you up to date on what else I'm doing other than Digi2000, by way of a thank you for your continued support.

Digi-wise, I'm hoping to release a much-extended version of the Digitiser story as a book. I'm hoping to have contributions in there from the rest of the Digi team, more anecdotes, and contributions from others of note... and that. If any of you have any sort of Digi memorabilia - I know some people have photos of their letters on screen, for instance - please get in touch, as I hope to include a gallery of such stuff.

Obviously, there are new t-shirts on the way: the first designs almost completely sold out (I think we have a few XXLs left). So thanks to everyone who bought one.

I'm aiming to get going with the YouTube videos again: we've had a bit of a surge in views in the last week or two, which is odd as I've not put up a new video in ages. I'm also hoping to do some sort of YT collaboration with Larry Bundy Jr, who you might know.

Currently, I'm working on a sixth series of my CBBC show 4 O'Clock Club. I'll be writing at least three eps of that. I'm also working on the third series of Millie In-between - another CBBC show. And I'm slowly developing a sitcom with Hattrick (though years of such development leads me to assume it won't happen), and a couple of show ideas for an international broadcaster, who I'm not allowed to mention as they made me sign a non-disclosure agreement. That makes it sound much more exciting than it is. I'm also continuing to write a piece a week for Techradar, in return for a Digi plug.

So, all that sounds like I'm very busy - and I am - but Digitiser2000 remains closest to my heart... as it's the one thing I'm doing which feels like mine.

Talking of things which felt like mine - here's a script I wrote a few years ago, which I entered into a Hollywood scriptwriting competition... and became a finalist. It was written to be as broadly accessible as possible... and though my prize was to get an American agent, it all fell a bit flat, because Hollywood is Officially Insane. Ultimately, I lost interest - being at an age where if something feels like too much hassle, I won't bother to do it.

Anyway... this is the first draft of the script, No Dummy. It's not perfect, but it's still probably the best pitch for anything I ever came up with: a failed actor tries to win the world ventriloquism championships by getting a dwarf to pretend to be his dummy. My agent hated it.

Obviously goes without saying that this is copyright me... so please don't circulate it, or steal bits. Happy to answer questions about it on here, if you have any.

Oh, and thanks!

I thought it was great. There were a couple of Mr Biffo-isms, which were welcome (I would have liked more). The revelation at the end seemed to lack a "so my dad didn't hate me after all", but maybe that would have been too sacharine. Have you thought about pitching this again?

MrBiffo

Ah, cheers, John. I've floated it around a few places, but it's a few years old now. At some point I'll write about the vaguely bonkers "Hollywood" experience I had with it... where I had a top Hollywood agent for literally four days. Insane. Everything you've heard about that place is true.

Just sublime. 10/10 would gleefully read again. Hoping the "some point" of writing about the 'wood experience isn't too far in the future!

MrBiffo

Ah, cheers, Steve. I'll see if I can put some words together about it on here.
