Elf soldiers maintain a rigorous training schedule to keep themselves in peak fighting condition. One of the many ways they hone their skills is through one-on-one sparring matches, either with or without weapons. Elves push one another to be the best they can be, and the sparring grounds are no exception. Their bodies are deceptively durable and can take quite a bit of punishment, and they are very aware of their extended limits. In a hand-to-hand duel, matches can last quite a while as both combatants will fight to their physical limits and refuse to surrender. This commonly results in both combatants taking a fair bit of punishment resulting in two battered and bruised elves.

Once a fight has concluded, the Elves have a practice uncommon to the other species. They promote the concept of maintaining intimate bonds with fellow soldiers, and one of the ways they achieve this is through sex. It is especially common after a duel, as elves see it as necessary to mend any hard feelings after a fight, and what better way to do so than to give each other pleasure. The evidence appears to support their methods, as it is nigh unheard of for elf legions to suffer from issues related to animosity between soldiers and their chain of command. Elves are also seen as some of the most loyal soldiers, banding together, even against terrible odds (and often winning against terrible odds as a result).

It is of little surprise then when it appears that human soldiery and the other intelligent species of the land have begun adopting some of the elves' training practices. Whether or not the other species can achieve similar results will be something only time can tell.
