Eric and Ira Drakclaw (Patreon)
Content
Ira is the mother of Eric Drakclaw. Having been a pirate herself, she sailed the seas of D'orn and went on numerous adventures. Growing used to the smell of gunpowder and the sound of clashing swords, she never dreamed of anything else becoming a part of her life.
Of course, it did not stay that way as she meant a man and had a little bastard whom she named, Eric Drakclaw. Being from Draegnar, she taught him what she could, she taught him the ways of the thief and the pride of the seas. However, her love was far and wide, faded away beneath anger and guilt at her declining health and financial status.
One day, her body became afflicted with Shark's Bite, a deadly disease, and nigh incurable, disease which has plagued many sea-faring men and women across Dorn's seas. Slowly eating away at her body, Ira committed numerous acts of prostitution to keep herself and her son fed, all while she grew more and more bitter. The vibrant look in her hair, the love of the sea in her eyes, the pride of her strength, all were slowly being taken away from her as her son watched. Not even being able to go out for more than once a day, hope had all but drained from her body. Though Eric worked, the medicine came later and later, and her health worsened. In her dread, she pushed him harder and further away. She'd raised him to survive in the likely event that she would become one with the Great Seas.
And, she did. Alone, Ira Drakclaw died and her son sailed off to the furthest ends of the earth.
However, that was not the fate which would befall her a second time. Her eyes widened, her son grabbed her hands and held them over her head, his strength a surprise to her. Then, he wrestled control of their family from her. Ira thought it was the end, one last cruel joke with no one laughing. Yet, she found her sickness healed, her auburn hair returned, and the smell of the pirate's life upon her nose. Her son had become a pirate captain, sailing men and women to mythical islands, hoarding chestfuls of gold, and battling beasts she'd never known to exist.
Yet, that was not all her son wished to give her. He gave her a lot more, much more, more than she'd ever accumulated in her former life as a pirate.
Ira will follow her son aboard his ship, cutting down anyone who gets in her son's way and reveling in the life upon the seas of D'orn as the Mother to the Son of Poseidon.
