Here is the full set of Cinestill 800T with Laye taken with the canonet ql17 GIII from 2018.

Damn I miss shooting this film, it's so great for these kinds of colours. I wouldn't use it for every scenario though but for a cinematic vibe it is the film to use, sad it is so expensive though. Just look at this variety of colours, I really really like this set.

Laye loved this set very much too and wanted to use some photos to cover her single Goldfinger at the time. This was her selection and the final results thereafter:

Now I'm going to tell you guys a little story on how this went down, it's not a story I like to tell or remember, however on this platform I can be honest and transparent so here goes:

Every time I collaborate with models I make them sign a release, my rule is if you don't pay for the shoot you sign a release giving me the full rights to use the photos, simple. Laye is under the Sony Canada label, since I own the photos they had to buy the licence to use it for commercial use. Since she really wanted to use some of these photos, she convinced them to buy but told me they weren't going to pay excessive amounts of money for it though. I was fine with that at some point. I remember asking around how much money I should ask and most photographers and creatives were giving me decent amounts of money, a good payday at least.

When they contacted me they told me straight up they needed 3-4 photos and were willing to give a total of 200$ for all of them with full ownership in perpetuity. I was crushed and insulted. In the past I sold licences for independent artists, I was able to get 150 to 200USD for rights to use only, that's not a lot, but I was happy to help these indy artists who loved my work and was proud to be featured. We are talking about Sony here, I think they have plenty of money what do you guys think? I know the name of the game anyway, if not me then they would go to the next one, and they know they have the biggest end of the stick, giving me visibility and everything.

After that low ball I told Laye I was very disappointed and insulted, which I should not have done because I think it created a wedge between us, it was not her fault at all. I told her I was going to make an offer and that it was going to be final, they can take it or leave it. So I told them I was going to sell each photos 100USD, that was my lowest price and that I was doing it for her since she really wanted it. So of course they only took one photo lol.

If it wasn't for her I would have told them to fuck off honestly. In a way this event killed pretty much any hope I had of making it big with my photography.

I will try to reconnect with Leah this summer and see if we can collaborate again soon, she really is a great creative person and I'm sure we can create amazing photos again.

But Sony can suck it.

Thanks for reading !
