I have not seen "Star vs.", but my sneaking suspicion is that if they ever did get to return to the premise, the first thing they would do would be to find a way to undo or hand-wave the destruction of magic. But if there's one thing an audience hates more than major plot twists that pop more or less out of nowhere and without consideration of what came before, it's taking such serious matters and then going "Oops, tee-hee, just kidding." Maybe it's better if the show stays dead. The "a kids show gets maybe three years" thing is interesting. I'm sure there are business reasons I'm not privy to, but I'm curious how much of it is that a child of eleven or twelve might feel compelled to reject what they liked at seven or eight in a move to prove their own maturity. Then the showrunners are faced with whether they try to mature with their audience and possibly misplace what made the original show work.
