Hey everyone - Hope your year is wrapping up nicely!

It’s been an awesome year here at the Texturelabs headquarters (aka my house) and you guys have been a HUGE part of that. So, I send my most sincere thanks for supporting the project, for the kind words, interesting questions and messages, fantastic suggestions and feedback, and all the awesome artwork you’ve sent my way.

If I caught you in time before you clock out for the year, I’ve got a few cool things bundled together - a little Texturelabs Gift Basket if you will. Everything is attached below, or find it on this Google Drive. Here’s a quick rundown...

TEXTURELABS ULTRACHROME PLUGIN (Photoshop 2022+)

I’ve been meaning to start translating the Texturelabs videos into proper templates for some time… and the Ultrachrome video was always one of my favorites. But after learning how to program in this plugin format, I can’t help myself. Who needs a template when the Texturelabs Ultrachrome Plugin can create totally custom original looks!

A few caveats:

- I’ve beta-tested the plugin on a variety of machines, and all seems well. However, please send me an email with any troubles, thoughts, questions, or suggestions :)

-Included is a registration key. I probably won’t release the plugin to the public for a few more months. The plugin is yours to keep, but the registration key will only work for installations until that point in time (you only need the key to install the plugin). If at some point in the future, you need me to send another key, shoot me an email.

If nothing else, be sure to grab the Gradient Map set. I spent more time than I'd like to admit dialing in gradient colors...

ELECTRON - Retro-Futuristic Display Font

I’ve been obsessed with building out fonts over the last couple months. I have no idea how or if that might play a role on the Texturelabs site, but this one turned out awesome (works great with Ultrachrome) and I’m excited to share. Commercial license included in the folder - use it for anything!

MRS VALENTINE - Spray Stencil PSD and Bitmap Font

I found this old stencil kit at the antique shop. Seems to be from one Mrs. Valentine’s classroom - she certainly did a good job taking care of it, with only some light pencil marks. I felt a little guilty blasting red spray paint through it, so I named the set after old Mrs. V.

Included: a high resolution PSD with the letters keyed out and on separate layers. Experimental feature - a Bitmap version as a font. What's a bitmap font? It’s a new-ish feature that Adobe and other design software are supporting, meaning it’s a font made of actual images, rather than shapes. Try it out - it’s pretty fun to type with actual stencil images. The downside - you can’t change the color (but a color overlay effect does the trick).

NEW TEXTURES THIS MONTH

Find 'em in the NEWEST section. Don’t miss Paper 295 - a folded grungy paper with a sense of scale to match 27"x40" movie posters.

My process: That same antique shop (my favorite place) has a stack of LIFE Magazines from the 40’s and 50’s. I look for copies that have lots of black pages - it’s ALL about the black pages. The ink is so old, it just falls right off the pages. Scratch it with a knife, fold it up, tear off a few pieces with tape. Then I shoot a bunch of elements and composite together the nicest details.
