Ultimate Guitar Workout | Practice Using Music Theory

In video 3 of the Shred Method Course we tackle the Ultimate Guitar Workout. Let's face it, getting better at guitar isn't easy. There's so much information on the internet, it can be overwhelming to know where to start. The idea behind my ultimate workout is simple. Work on music theory and guitar technique at the same time to maximize your results. We'll be using the Andalusian Cadence chord progression Em-D-C-B Power Chords First up is power chords. This is the easiest section of the etude. This sequence is in countless metal songs and an asset to anyone's musical vocabulary. Counterpoint The C WORD "COUNTERPOINT" is the study of how voices move. A must for songwriters and riff lords looking for the perfect line to make their ideas more interesting Down Picking Down picking is a powerful way to express your ideas. Metallica, Megadeth and pretty much every band in the world uses this technique to get their point across Tremolo Picking Tremolo picking is down and up strokes. This gets you mega speed lines that are impossible with down picking. Follow the arpeggios of the andalusian cadence for a killer workout Gallop Picking Gallop picking is very popular in metal music to create momentum in a riff. I'll show you the regular and reverse chugging patterns to add to your arsenal Sweep Picking Sweep picking isn't just a party trick. This technique is highly practical for arpeggio sequences. Legato and Hybrid Picking Legato is when you don't use the pick. It means "smooth and connected." Hybrid Picking is using the pick in conjunction with the fingers. Put the two together for an ultra powerful way to reach notes you couldn't otherwise get to Finger Tapping Finger tapping is one of the most practical guitar techniques. Eddie Van Halen wasn't just showing off when he played the Eruption solo back in the 1970's. It's a great way to play monster arpeggios! 🔴 Shred's Patreon (Reaction Requests, Discord, All tabs, courses) https://www.patreon.com/shredmasterscott?fan_landing=truest 🔴 Finger The G-String T-Shirt https://shredmaster-scott.creator-spring.com/listing/finger-the-g-string 0:00-Playing Guitar Is HARD 1:42-How To Practice 2:09-Shred Method Formula 2:53-The Shred Method 4:08-Ultimate Guitar Workout 5:24-Ultimate Workout Slow 7:28-Workout Breakdown 15:09-Practice Strategy
