I want to hear from you on this topic. How has being a guitarist changed over the years for you?

Remember when playing guitar was fun? Before instagram it was actually possible to impress babes by fingering the g string

The look of awe from friends or family when you repped a simple pentatonic lick....ahhhh, those were the days

I'll be honest, as a content creator I really feel this. Seems like I can't get views unless I'm standing on my head shredding the hardest solo backwards with my tongue

Let's forget all that and enter a portal to the past....join me on planet shred in sector 420

A magical place where playing guitar is FUN...no competition or D!ck measuring contests. The self discovery and pure joy of learning is ADDICTING

My new HOW TO PLAY GUITAR course below will RE-ignite your passion for playing. Memes, tabs, tex, video and more

Scott, you wound me! It’s not your head-standing literal tongue licks that get you views. At least not as far as I’m concerned. You’re no slouch behind your axe, that’s a matter of public record. But what sets you apart and opens my wallet for your content is your song analyses, theory lessons, and discussions around athletic feats versus musicality. We don’t share an instrument, but your content of this sort always makes me want to ditch out on work early to practice. “How fast can I go” has a tendency to become competitive. But you have the heart of a teacher. And that’s a hell of a lot more inviting! A hell of a lot more fun!

Well said, that's good insight. I don't know how it works with harp but guitar players have ENORMOUS egos. The pressure to impress other axe grinders with speed and technique gets absurd at times. We're perpetually locked in a d!ck measuring contest, forgetting how to move people's emotions with real music

Agreed. You have a gift for conveying theory in a way that's not intimidating. There are other teachers on Pateron that IMO almost seem to veer away from theory, like they worry it will be to boring/complicated for subscribers
