Sick Metal Riff SECRETS 🤫 🎸 (Patreon)

I wrote some neoclassical metal riffs this week using music theory. I was only planning on writing one riff but ended up with 6. Theory always gives me a ton of extra content. I always think of Lord Randy Rhoads when the topic of Neoclassical Metal arises. He understood classical music as well as modern styles like the blues. 

I'm finding that Counterpoint is extremely powerful if you want to be a riff lord. Counterpoint is basically the study of how musical voices move. It helps you write ✍️  stronger melodies and harmonies....the very essence of a powerful riff. I used contrary motion and oblique motion in this riff.
