Randy Rhoads is someone I always admire when it comes to Neoclassical Metal. Here's a short lesson on how to use the Neapolitan chord in your riffs and solos. In the key of A minor the Neapolitan chord is built a half step up from the root, generating a Bb major chord. The most common way to resolve it is with the V chord or E. This was useful. I've always had problems using this chord and making it sound right. I think I was trying to use it in major keys which may have been my problem. Or maybe it's just a difficult chord to work into a song. However, you make it sound really good in the minor key.
