I've started a "Jazz Guitar Package" for my patrons. 

A jazz standard is a popular jazz song, usually compiled in the "Real Book", which catalogues songs jazz musicians play at gigs. 

The standard "Autumn Leaves" is the best place to start when learning jazz. It's simple and contains all the basic 7th chord qualities needed to play jazz music. 

A jazz standard contains two basic elements in what's called a "lead sheet." The melody and also the chords.
