Tom Sawyer Lick (Patreon)

One of my favorite Lydian guitar licks comes from Rush's "Tom Sawyer." D Lydian to be exact...which is relative to the key of A major. I've included the tab below. Notice the 7/8 time signature drummer Neil Peart navigates with ease. 

I've also included the fundamental elements of the D Lydian mode. Scale and primary chords. You won't have much luck creating the vibe of a given mode unless you grasp the harmonic structure. Enjoy
