Magic Mixolydian b6 (Patreon)

Here's the Magic of Mixolydian b6. The 5th mode of the the melodic minor scale. I know we're all familiar with the 5th mode of the harmonic minor scale, phrygian dominant but this is a whole other universe of sound. I've included a video of me improvising with the scale below. Very cool exotic chords and soundscapes to be explored. That b6 interval really adds of lot of delicious tension you'll recognize from movie film scores. Perhaps some sitar Indian Ravi Shankar vibes as well. The real secret here is to improvise over a pedal tone, otherwise you're not going to hear the tonic pitch, which gives the scale context.
