Todays Shred Tip is Neoclassical Voicings. We'll take a cadence in Bm: i-iv-V-i and move the notes as little as possible to create smooth voice leading from one chord to the next. Much like father Randy Rhoads. Thinking about how to shift from harmony to harmony smoothly makes a significant difference. The large skips involved in using bar chords just doesn't achieve the same musical effect....sounding more disjointed and clumsy.

What's your favorite chord progression right now?

Textbook tonal harmony. I found that my song writing immensely improved by applying these techniques. You can almost blindly apply these ideas to any chord progression and it will sound good. Love it!

Oh no question, it’s something that always works. It can even make a lame progression sound epic
