I thought I was the king of improvising...until I started recording myself. The horrifying reality was I sounded like sh!t! Everyone in my band could hear it, which is why I got kicked out muhahaha. In this post, I'm going to cover one of the most important aspects to becoming a better improviser....MINDSET

If you missed my full improvising course released last week. Check it out below! I cover the 3 levels of improvising to get you shredding on the spot fast!

🛑 3 Levels Of Improvising

WHY IT’S HARD AF

Improvising is like giving an impromptu speech. You’re basically composing music on the fly. This is no easy task. It takes technique, experience and a connection with your emotions. It’s easy to sabotage yourself before getting started with lack of self belief. Here’s how to prepare your mind in 3 steps

BBC METHOD

Life has a way of beating us down over time. Bad family life, toxic relationships, a soul draining job. Use my BBC method to turn your life around ASAP. The number one rule to accomplish any goal is don’t abandon yourself. BELIEVE you can do it! No matter what happens, maintain a strong sense of self belief. As the ancient Chinese proverb says, “the journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.”

STRATEGY

Just having a goal doesn’t mean it’s going to come true. I mean, if you’re a hot Instagram model, manifesting may not be such a bad strategy but for the rest of us….we need the p word

🛑 PLAN OF ATTACK!!

If you really want to get better at improvising, write down a routine that targets specific problem areas. For example, learning how to identify the key of a song, subdividing the beat of songs, practicing techniques like sweeping and tapping etc. Stay consistent and it’s impossible not to see massive gains!

DON’T DO THIS!!!

Everyone skips the last part of my BBC method. I implore you not to do this!

Believe, Breakdown and CELEBRATE!

I’m talking about celebrating your progress. Take time to rest and recover from your hard work. Appreciate how far you’ve come and recharge the batteries for the next round!

⚡️What are your specific problems with improvising? Let me know how it’s going in the comments below. By the way, discord is the best way to interact with me and my other composer patrons. I’d love to see you over there!
