Suzanne and Mr. Hill’s "making out sessions" were occurring on a daily basis now, and they were no longer limited to the office. After much insistence of the man, he had begun to take Suzanne home every night, and obviously they always kissed a little more before the woman got out of the car. In addition, Mr. Hill had even taken her to fancy restaurants three or four times already.

Until then, Suzanne had been able to contain the man's advances. The most she allowed him to do – besides kissing her, of course – was to touch her boobs a few times. She knew she needed to keep him interested and curious, and so far her plan was being a huge success. Mr. Hill seemed to desire her more and more every day. He was always so horny when they were together that Suzanne almost felt sorry for him when she said again that he needed to be a little more patient.

This situation was difficult for her, too. She was feeling aroused all the time, and her daily masturbation sessions were no longer being enough to satisfy her. She wanted more than anything to have sex with Mr. Hill, but she had to control herself no matter how hard it was…

Smiling, she looked at the flower pot on the center table of the living room. Those flowers had been a gift from Mr. Hill, and they made her feel thrilled every time she looked at them, remembering the night before. After giving her the flowers, the man had kissed her with more passion than ever, and had said some very nice things. He was so gallant... Suzanne didn't know how much longer she could resist his charm.

Mary, her friend at work, had already noticed that something was happening, and she was very worried about that. "You're falling for him, aren't you?" she asked one morning.

"I don't know what you're talking about, my dear."

"C'mon, Suzanne, you can be honest with me. I'm your friend, remember? Tell me, have you two kissed yet? Oh my, I can see the answer in your face! You shouldn't be doing that, Suzanne... No, at all!"

"What do you know about Mr. Hill, Marry? What do you really know? You can’t be so concerned just because of his reputation of being a womanizer. What's truly going on?"

"N-nothing!" she said, nervously. "I just think he's not the right man for you! But you're an adult woman, of course. You have the right to do what you want."

Suzanne was more certain than ever that Mary was hiding something. She had spent days trying to guess what this might be, and why the woman was so reluctant to share that information.

Beside the flower pot, there was a compilation of the mysterious letters Suzanne had recently received. The woman was keeping the letters in a notebook, and she was still puzzled about who was sending them to her.

At first, she even considered going to the post office to see if they could help her find the sender, but she soon let that idea go. Deep down, she was enjoying all that mystery, and it wasn't like those letters were doing her harm. In fact, they were just some kind of motivational messages, and somehow they truly were helping Suzanne adapt to her new life, and rely more on herself…

----------

As soon as the movie Suzanne was watching came to an end, she heard footsteps and laughter in the hallway outside her apartment. She could recognize one of those voices anywhere – It was Brianna, her daughter. Suzanne quickly got up and put on a silk robe over her nightie. Shortly after, Brianna and a young man entered the apartment.

"Well, well, well, look who decided to show up!" Suzanne said, with an ironic tone in her voice.

"Mom?!" Brianna cried out, frightened. "Gosh, I hadn't noticed you were here! What are you doing up at this hour?"

"What else, my dear daughter? I was waiting for a certain girl to get home. One that said that would arrive much earlier, and that isn't answering her phone. Do you have any idea who I'm talking about?"

"Umm... Mom... I'm sorry... It's just that..."

"It's just that what, young lady?" Suzanne asked, intimidatingly, crossing her arms.

"C'mon, Mom! I know I messed up, but don't be like that... Not now!" Brianna added, afraid that her mother could embarrass her.

"Umm... Excuse me, Ma'am" said the guy who was with Brianna, coming forward. "Forgive me for saying that, but you shouldn't be so hard on Bree. It's my fault she's late. She said she needed to come home hours ago, but I insisted for her to stay with me a little longer. I'm Thomas, by the way, her boyfriend. But you can call me Tom, Ma'am."

Knowing her daughter very well, Suzanne doubted that the young man was being completely honest. Brianna didn't have the habit of getting home at the appointed time. Still, Suzanne didn't completely disapprove the fact that Tom was lying to protect his girlfriend. That could mean he really liked her.

She thought he was a very handsome guy. He appeared to be about twenty. He was tall, and had an athletic body. He had short black hair, dark brown eyes, and a nice smile. The older woman had the feeling that he was a trustworthy kid, but even so she decided not to be so gentle with him, at least at first.

"Very well, Thomas. If that's true, don’t you think it makes you a bad influence on my daughter?"

"Mom!" Brianna protested. "What's wrong with you?"

"Well, I think you have reason to think something like that, Ma'am. I can fully understand you. But I promise you this will not happen again…ever! I was eager to finally meet you, and I'm sorry that this is happening in such circumstances."

Suzanne had to struggle to maintain her severe expression and not to burst out laughing. The effort the young man was making to sound polite was laudable, but it was also comical to see someone of his age talking that way.

She then leaned back against the couch and sighed. "Fine! The charade is over. I don't like to act like a stern mother, anyway... And you, Brianna, you know things don't need to be like that. You know I never try to control you. All I ask you is to answer your phone when I call you! Is that too much?"

"No, Mom" the young woman said, pouting and looking down. "I'm so sorry! You're an amazing mother… Like, really amazing! I know I should have answered the phone!"

Suzanne felt touched upon hearing that, and she had to hold back the tears. Christ, being a mother really is a whirlwind of emotions, she thought.

"That's okay, honey. I'm sure you'll do better from now on, won't you? Now, since we are all here, I’d like to take the opportunity to get to know my son-in-law better. Why don't we drink something? I'll get a glass of wine for me, and some soda for you two. No matter what the state says, you kids aren't old enough to drink alcohol under my roof …"

The three of them talked for a long time. Suzanne found out that Tom was attending college, where he was studying civil engineering. He seemed to be a hardworking guy. To help pay for his college, he had a part-time job at his uncle's security systems firm.

"We were even responsible for installing the security cameras in the company where you work, Ma'am! And I helped setting up everything" he said, proud of himself. "That was an important job for us."

But more importantly, it was obvious that he really liked Brianna. During the whole time, he held her tight as if she were the precious thing in the world, and it was possible to see his eyes shining whenever he spoke about her. The feeling was clearly reciprocal. Anyone could see that Brianna was deeply in love as she snuggled into his arms like that were her happiest place.

Suzanne didn't know if that relationship would last long. At their age, things were always very volatile. But she was glad that – as long as it lasted – her daughter seemed to be safe with someone who respected and cared for her. What else could a mother ask for?

When Tom finally said he needed to go, Brianna accompanied him to the door to say goodbye and Suzanne went to her bedroom. Only when she lay on her bed she realized what had just happened. The relationship between her and Brianna as mother and daughter seemed more solidified than ever. They appeared to be too in-depth into their new roles, and the woman wondered what it would be like when that came to an end. As Patrick and Christine, they were already close, but not in that degree. What would happen when they regained their true identities?

I won't worry about that now. I'll just relax and live one day at a time, she told herself, already sleepy after the glasses of wine she had drunk. She shifted on the bed, once again loving the feeling of her delicate nightie against her body. For now, I'm Suzanne and she's Brianna. I love being Suzanne, and I shouldn't try to suppress my feelings... I'm an independent woman… I know what's best for me… I'm just exploring and getting to know myself better…There’s nothing wrong about that… She then finally fell asleep, not realizing she had just reproduced in her mind some of the sentences she had read in the letters she had been receiving.
