Sam & Fuzzy Extra - April 2021 (Patreon)

It's S&F Extra time! Here's a behind the scenes look at what I worked on last month. 

In  the gallery above, you'll find the final version of each piece, as well as some animated GIFs of how some of them came together!  And down here, I'll  provide some info  about each piece!

Fuzzy, Bonus, and Trevor
One thing you'll definitely notice in the animated GIF in the gallery is I was very indecisive about what colours to use for the background of this comic. I didn't want the factory to feel too menacing. (Otherwise we might all feel extra nervous for Bonus!)

Michiru
This was a recent commission I drew, featuring the main character of the anime BNA: Brand New Animal in both her human and animal forms. I really like the character design of this series! This one was coloured with markers... you can see how the final piece compares to the pencils and inks in the gallery.

Pipe Parody
This piece, which was a component of a recent comic I drew, is a parody of a famous painting called The Treachery of Images! The original painting depicts a pipe, along with text that reads "This is not a pipe" in French. In my version, the french text says "This is not a rule that says a dog can't play basketball", in order to set up an extremely ellaborate joke about Air Bud. (A friend of mine did the translation for me!)

In the gallery above, you'll find an animated GIF of how it was draw. As you'll see, I referenced the original painting - and even it's frame - directly. Painted looks are definitely not my strong suit, but I did my best to ape the general style of shading of the original while still drawing something that would fit in with the art of the comic. (The gallery also includes the comic this piece was a part of, in case you didn't see it on my website.)

Bunsen and Beaker in the Mountains
Here's a brand new piece I drew for Bunsen and Beaker, the social media science dogs! The request was to make them look "epic." I like to think I pulled it off.

It's very nice of B&B to keep hiring me to do all these drawings! You'll find an animated GIF of the piece's creation in the gallery above.

Mighty and Ray
Here's a Mighty and Ray to go with last month's Classic Sonic! These two used to be pretty obscure Sonic side characters whose appearances were limited to a pair of 90s spin-off games. But they're a lot more well-known now that they've appeared in the recent Sonic Mania game and YouTube shorts!

Ruby
Last but not least, here's a SFW-version of a pin-up of Ruby that I recently drew! Ruby is one of the new Saucy Hippo club performers that have appeared in some of my recent comics. I really like the colouring in this one... you can see how it came together in the GIF in the gallery.

This is one in a series of pin-ups I'm working on, featuring each member of the Saucy Hippo staff posing in various locations around the club. I've drawn Ruby and Alicia so far... that leaves Jess, Cynthia, and Vulfie still to come!
