It's S&F Extra time! Here's a behind the scenes look at what I worked on last month.

In  the gallery above, you'll find the final version of each piece, as well  as some process images.  And down here, I'll  provide some info about  each piece!

Future Fuzzy 2021
Your favourite (or possibly second favourite) sombrero-wearing S&F character is here to help ring in the new year. I drew this today while trying to stop endlessly doomscrolling through twitter.  The black and white lineart was drawn on paper, while the colours and wooshy time travel vortex lines were added in Photoshop.

Jess, Ackerman, and Fridge in the future
This piece was a commission request for a Kickstarter backer! They asked to see an scenario where these three worked together at X-Per-S and played cards on break like the old gang did. They also suggested it could take place in a weird alternate future or universe. From those suggestions, I came up with the specific jokes in the dialogue!

Beaker's Band
My latest piece for Bunsen and Beaker, the social media science dogs, is this super fun portrait of Beaker's "band"! The process for colouring this one was especially fun... you can check it out in GIF form in the gallery above!

The "Vultures of Parliament", as Beaker's band is known, started as an injoke on their twitter. The other members of the band are some of their real-life neighbours' real-life pets. (Yes, one of their neighbours has a pet snake, and another is llama farmer.)

Now, Bunsen's owner is actually putting together some songs for Beaker's "virtual band". And they hired me to draw this art and band logo for them to use for fake band merchandise. (I obviously have some experience drawing fake cartoon bands, haha!)

Pokedogs
This pet portrait is a little unusual: the owner asked if I could draw their dogs as Pokemon! But not existing Pokemon... just Pokemon-esque versions of the dogs themselves. I didn't ape the Pokemon art style 1-to-1, but I like how it turned out... particularly the snowy Burmese Mountain Dog. (Between this guy and Bunsen, I sure have drawn a lot of BMDs lately!)

Christmas Doggos
I thought you all might enjoy seeing the process of making my Christmas artwork of my dogs, Dipper and Poppy, so I included a process GIF in the gallery above! Later, I went back to my original ink-on-paper lineart and recoloured it with markers, because my girlfriend wanted to hang it up in our home.

Princess Cat
A cute commission! I love it when people send me photos of their pets next to my drawings.

2001-2021
In the gallery above, you'll see the making of this special comic that I drew to celebrate the new year! Because the characters needed to be drawn around existing art, I decided to draw this one fully digitally. I also decided to colour it, just to maximize the contrast between the old art and the new.

It's not the first time I've revisited old S&F art, but even so, it's pretty striking to compare how different Sam and Fuzzy look from their page 1 counterparts!

All right! 'til next time, friends.
