TAKE OFF Physical Book - Suggestion/Feedback Pool (Patreon)

Hi everyone! So I've been working on Take Off Volume 1, the physical copy of Take Off Season 1, converting the scroll-form comic into a page-form book!! I wanted to gauge everyone's interest and see if anyone's got suggestions/feedback!

1. Inclusion of Extra Comics

I'm unsure whether or not to include extra comics in it such as the kids AU, Andrew in Wonderland and etc. Season 1 was intended as the whole comic so it's complete on its own and I'm not sure if including other things would feel disruptive or irrelevant? Also to note: Season 1's book will be completely SFW due to the nature of its content and will not include NSFW extras!!!

2. Special Editions + Merch

The standard copy is expected to be A5 size paperback. I am wondering if there is interest for a hardcopy version? Beyond that, I would love to make bundle editions where merch is included. But the alternative is to sell everything separately where you can have the option to choose and shop!

Please let me know if there is interest in merch besides the book! And if there's any ideas for merch feel free to drop your ideas in the comments below!!

3. Distribution Methods

This relates to the point above! I've been thinking about doing a kickstarter/crowdfunding campaign, in which pledgers would have the option to select the package they want which could range from pdf version of the book, all the way to a very special edition/signed copy with exclusive merch etc. But having no experience in this, I am a little nervous and hesitant...! And honestly, I'm scared of it failing🥹 But it would be a challenge and a personal milestone!

Otherwise, the book will be sold online when I launch my store. It's something I've been working on for a while and I've finally reached an agreement to work with a store fulfilment company based in the U.S., so that's weight off my shoulders on packaging and shipping! If I go the crowdfunding route, they can also help with that!

Please let me know if there is interest in supporting a crowdfunding campaign for the book!

With or without the crowdfunding campaign, the online store will be a thing coming in 2023! And it'll be where books and merch relating to Take Off will be sold, including the NSFW zine that was mailed to Pilot Patrons last year!

If season 1 is SFW I think I would be cute to have the extras too! Reminds me of the manga I used to read growing up ☺️

1. I think the AU stuff is really cute/nice, and they never felt disruptive. They simply felt like a chance of pace from the typical stories. It also gave us some background to who the characters were as children, which is a cool insight. If you personally feel that they are disruptive I'd say to include them as extras in the back of the book. 2. I would ABSOLUTELY be interested in a physical copy. 3. I think Kickstarter would be a solid way to get backing, so people can have more options and it will give you more time to get the money you need. You'd also then have access to all of the books after funding, so extras could be sold on your site from the first batch.

Love the idea of a hardcover, with a softcover mini book with all the fun extra stories. Would they only be available through the campaign or will you have an online store?

Kickstarter is a fantastic route to go; however, depending on shipping an online store works well.

Paperback for each SFW series as it comes out, then once the story is complete - a collated hardback of every series, with the options for SFW and NSFW. I’d prefer uninterrupted panels and the mini stories at the back of the book. Also send to UK please :)
