Apple IOS Sucky App Update (Patreon)

Hi everyone! Patreon sent out an update email to all creators the other day letting us know the following: "Apple is requiring that Patreon use their in-app purchasing system and remove all other billing systems from the Patreon iOS app by November 2024. This means that starting in November, new memberships purchased in the iOS app will be subject to Apple's 30% App Store fee."

So, that SUCKS for creators!!!😡 Apple is also forcing everyone to switch to "subscription billing" at that time. That means patrons won't be charged on the first of the month, but instead be charged on the day they joined a person's Patreon. I don't morally have a problem with subscription billing over first-of-the-month billing, I do think it's more fair, but I was hoping to have much more time to save up the money needed to switch over by choice so I can still pay all my bills on the first of the month without issue, ha 😓 I will figure that out somehow, oh well. BUT--

I wanted to make this post so y'all know what's going on behind the scenes and the changes that are coming, and to humbly ask--If you are currently an Apple user using and paying for Patreon through your app to consider switching to paying through Patreon's website only!

For any of the creators you follow on here having Apple snatch 30% away of their earnings on top of the fees Patreon already takes will make it really hard to create the content we want for you! If you read all this way thank you so much! I love you all and I'll be posting a new audio very soon!

TLDR: Apple is about to start taking 30% of Patreon earnings. Consider switching from using the IOS app to just the Patreon website for billing, please!

EDIT*: Should you find you're subject to the Apple fee then send me a message and we'll see about getting you switched over if you want. If that means you have to resubscribe using the Patreon website and you get double charged for the month then let me know and I'll try to refund that "switch-over charge".
