Let me explain a little about this painting.

I have a very strong nostalgia to fantasy.

I still cannot stop listening to the background music from the old Final Fantasy series.

I used to think this was a nostalgic escape from reality, and I was ashamed of it.

But perhaps it is a trivial matter whether the landscapes I find fascinating are real or fantasy.

This is because the original source of all fantasy is this world, and it is in the minds of earthlings.

I believe that fantasy is one way of seeing the world that includes the memories, tastes, and ideas of the author.

I came to this conclusion the other day after a discussion of FF8.

(Few people on earth understand this, but FF8 is not a sword and sorcery romance, but a metafiction that speaks of media theory, anti-war, and the inheritance of love.)

I may continue to paint fantasy art.

Without distinguishing them from Japanese landscapes.

Backgrounds on old video/computer games have a long interest to me, I know where you are coming from. They are silent frames to the story, even the simple "shoot em up" games used backgrounds to tell you something, to advance the story.

You know, keeping a "young mind" and staying curious is one of the best ways to stay healthy. Nostalgia is a celebration of circumstances and a hint of ambition – how one would like things to become. Use it as a force and source of inspiration!
