Hey there everyone~! ^^
Here with an overall progress update.

So, all the final linework for Animation #11 is finally complete~! Which means the focus now shifts to the coloring stage.

As you may have noticed in my live streams, I have switched up my workflow to incorporate color and shading when needed during drawing final linework on some shots. This means that even though I've officially entered the coloring stage now, a lot of it has already been done!

The reason I haven't made a progress bar like this one above in a while is really because of my new way of working, which makes the bar slightly inaccurate. However, I think it might still be a good indicator at the very least as to where in the production I am at.

------

Release window: As I get closer to finishing up this project, I can sort of gauge when I can possibly release the animation. So far, I am aiming to have it released by year's end.

Also, beginning in the new year, I will try to start up the limited run of mini animations that 'Idea Tier' patrons will be able to enjoy. Stay tuned for more news on that in January.

More live-streams coming soon with me working on the coloring and shading. See ya then! ^_^

First of all, thank you for making a statement regarding the state of production. Although I'm kinda irritated, when you switched to full-time there was all this fuzz about getting faster and more detailed etc. - which is true for the detailed part. Maybe I'm alone in this, but I do not feel any significant improvement in the production time. The last animation (Roommates) started with announcing on 11th October to releasing on 1th May (203 days). After announcing this animation on 8th June and now estimated release for the of the year, I'm sad, confused and blatantly irritated. Today we're in 154 days, with about to 52 days still "expecting". With that being said, we would end with a release in New years eve at 206 days. There is no improvement and I kinda want an explanation.

The only explanation I have is that this animation is longer than the one before. I can't judge how much more detail affects time management, but I think that transparency here could help some people to understand it better. I would also be interested in general, so why it is taking so long. I don't mean to be reproachful, but a small statement would be appropriate at this point.

I understand and share your wish to see the new animation as soon as possible, and numbers-wise, your calculation is of course correct. A few things to consider, however: - A higher quality animation finished in the same time as a prior, comparatively lower quality animation is an improvement in my book. - There have also been much more frequent streaming updates in the recent months, which helps tide me over (if also increasing my anticipation for the finished product!) - Taka has, ever since the beginning, been approachable and courteous to his fans, so I am inclined to view him in good faith. - He is also quite possibly the only animation artist in our field of interest who consistently delivers high quality, original, hand drawn animation. No over-reliance on zooming and fake-looking stretching, no 3d models, no still frames, no black-and-white, none of all that. - Hand drawn animation takes time and effort to complete. The old Disney films had tons of people working on them and they still took ages to finish. Taka is just one guy. In conclusion: as long as there are no truly outageous delays (and there never have been so far), I for one am perfectly happy to wait for Taka to deliver, as he always does. And I know it will be worth the wait, as it always has been.

Personally, I find watching the WIP streams gives me some valuable perspective in how much time goes into animating even a couple of seconds of finished animation.

I understand completely that y’all want this finished so we can enjoy what Taka has to offer and Spyros made a good point that this is one man versus a group of people working on animations. I’ve seen multiple growth videos over the course of my Paetron membership and quite frankly none of them is as good as Taka’s and this is not to dishonour the others that have worked hard on there projects but by having these streams just shows how much time goes into these animations and that’s enough perspective for me to understand. We’ve been given an unofficial release (which can change and happen sooner than expected) so please be patient and appreciate the work that Taka is doing for all of us. :)

Thanks for the updates and live streams! I'll add to the choir: if you really want faster animations, Taka would have to move to shorter, simpler, single character, line-art only animations. However what my fellow patreons seem to enjoy are long, colorful, detailed animations. I don't think Taka is willing to change expectations, without a vote, at least.

I'm new here, and came about Taka's patreon largely by chance. But I can already see how the pace must be frustrating to some. It is tough to remember that this is a one-man operation, doing every frame painstakingly by hand. As someone who has tried his hand at animation, it is no easy task. However, when you see the quality of the end product compared to what some other makers are creating, it is obvious that cutting corners would cause an unwelcome quality drop. Maybe once Taka reaches a certain level, he will be able to job some parts of the animation out– speeding up the process without downgrading quality of animation or storytelling.

My argument is if it's taking this long when he's going full-time, imagine what the end product will turn out to be!

Thank you all for contributing to the conversation. To those looking for a specific explanation, there’s not much more to say besides what has already been said here. I am quite happy the streams have provided some insight on the process, and am very grateful to all of you who are understanding. I love muscle growth as much as all of you, so I aim to make it the best I can. With that being said, another Stream is coming up soon. Looking forward to seeing y’all there~! ^_^ -Taka
