On this edition of Backstage Pass, I’ll be talking about…

Postcard production hiccups! Because this is my first time printing art myself, so it was bound to happen.

Now armed with my own home printer, I’ve been looking forward to producing postcards much quicker and much cheaper than using a printing service. But producing over 100 prints in one sitting was maybe a bit overwhelming, so at some point I decided to just queue up all the jobs at once and let the printer do its own thing. This worked out fine, until I forgot to check to make sure all the paper in my printer was facing the proper direction, which turned out some horrifying results. I hope you enjoy this gallery of disaster!

No better way to start than the first piece where things started to go wrong. I don’t know why this one stopped where it did, but I suppose I’m thankful more ink wasn’t wasted.

Rune and Dielle here seem to be going through some nuclear fallout.

Before they just got wiped out completely when I realized how horrible the print job was going and cancelled it,

Malachi wasn’t safe from the bloodbath either, and you can see my frantic fingerprints trying to pick these up before they stained everything.

And then I found out that apparently not everything printed was on photo paper to begin with- you can see this protective slip here also got caught up.

And the photo paper manual got a makeover too. I think this one is my favorite.

Who knew how much havoc an unwatched printer could wreak in just 5 minutes? I’m almost half-tempted to give these away, but the other half of me is wondering “would anyone even want what essentially is garbage??” Despite these setbacks, most of the printing went by swimmingly, and I’m looking forward to doing more in the future!
